The Alliance is there for the interest of the International of both the TWU and IAM and of course the AFL-CIO. It has no benefit to the members who they represent. So why vote in favor of something that will have no benefit to our present and future at the NEW American Airlines? This is what we must all understand. Both unions are trying to figure out how to have this Alliance vote without a possibility of them being decertifed either by a NO union vote or a write in or an intervenor. More than two choices on the ballot needs a majority choice. This is one time the unions do not want to see the members divided up.

You are correct, 700 is a die-hard IAM supporter and will be for a long time. Just like you and others are die-hard AMFA supporters, and overspeed is a die-hard TWU supporter. Everyone seems to find faults with the group they don't believe in, and nothing wrong with the group they are members of or believe in.

All I can say is for every AMT at AA and USAir needs to keep an open mind, do their own research, and when the time comes for a vote, vote according to the facts you find.
Agree 100%

Same here.

How 'bout making this as good of time as any to get away from making it about him, and getting back to the issue?
Because they cant debate with facts, they would rather attack the poster.

But thanks Kev.

I have lived with the IAM for 15 years. TWA
I have lived with the TWU for 15 years. AA
If I could only vote for one or the other, IAM would get my vote.
They have a retirement, TWU no
They have more respect for seniority. TWU none, watch out US Air. With TWU you go straight to the bottom no matter what. You should have heard the TWU cry like a bunch of whining babes at union meeting, when they thought they might be at the bottom. It was sicking.

Bubba...In all fairness, the proposed IAM/TWU alliance, if it survives...Has already decided the seniority issue and the lists will be merged. This is NOT TWA again...Where AA PURCHASED TWA....US/AA is a MERGER.....
Now, should the alliance vote fail, guess what, the IAM will not win any representation vote due the voting size of the TWU.
Time to move on. IAM will never win representation at the new AA.......
And please don't give your precious TWA brethren a pass......There are plant of crybabies as well from that company.

Here's the choices ...TWU/IAM ALLIANCE
                                  NO UNION
                                  AMFA
                                  TWU...

Yes I'm TWA, An Also the TWU conveniently forgets to pay
the TWA guys at DWH on a 757 grievance, when the grievance originated from DWH. But they sure did remember to pay AFW, an Tulsa for the 757 grievance. Oh yeah and they did remember to pay the AA mechanics at DWH. That's a slap in the face. TWU did pays us after we grieved it.

You're all over the place...If you have a legitimate grievance that the TWU is ignoring, file a m with the NLRB...
This topic is about the alliance.

As I'm sure everyone can tell I'm a little grumpy today.
It doesn't matter if TWA was purchased or it was a merger. Seniority is seniority . TWA-IAM purchase OZARK and we VOTED them their seniority.
If the IAM / TWU well let me in the IAM retirement, I may for it, God help me!
Go back a page an read what I said about the Alliance. Also you didn't read my last post. You would see that I said we got payed.

The TWU had language for Mergers and Acquisitions that unfortunately the IAM at the time and still today just does not and did not have in their contracts. The IAM was going to sue against that language though so it was decided by BOTH unions to take it before an independent arbitrator to make a ruling. That ruling was made by Richard Kasher on April 29 2002. It is binding and irreversable and has seen all litigated challenges be denied.

On another note the APA and APFA had the same language and chose not to go before an arbitrator and take their chances with any suits that would absolutely be filed against the decision. All challenges were again denied and all former TWA employees were placed at the bottom of the seniority roster.

Well that's not how it played out at AA...Seniority was determined by an arbitrator. He took the size of AA and TWA and made a decision on seniority. It's over..time to move on.
There is and always will be those who do get what they want. It is what it is.

So if you have 30 years between the two companies you must be 50 plus. What kind of a IAM pension will you have if they start to offer the TWU guys a pension? How many more years do you have left? Do you think the IAM pension will amount to any substantial amount if we are offered the same pension? I agree on the seniority issue. TWU sucks at it and that is why outside intervention was brought in to settle the issue.
