United Mechanics Contract

T/A Shot down...........   87% of eligible voters voted. Out of the voters, 93% said NO.

8946 eligible
7805 NO
531 Yes

Lets see what the ibt does with this powerful tool the membership just handed them?
Wow, you guys got balls. I like your solidarity. Can you guys come on over to AA and show the sheep what solidarity is?

Sounds like it's time to change unions. With a 93% NO that tells me the union is out of touch with the membership and is in bed with the company. Time for a class and craft union to take over. Get it done. The Teamsters just showed you their cards. They want to screw you guys over. How pathetic. Industrial unionism at its most horrible worse.

Hahahaha............. that's a good one SWAMT!

It's going to go exactly how you think it ill go.  A big portion of the no vote was the teamcare ( teamster medical plan ) and this VEBA they wanted us to contribute to.

There 7 major points;
6 year duration
Teamcare
Veba
Money
Retro
Outsourcing all widebody work
Lifetime recall gone

We will see what the ibt does now?
Dont forget that you would have been giving up aircraft movements. NO work should be given up!!!

who in the heck were the 500 people? wow

Congrats UA M&R big deal that so many said no, but sadly I don't think things will get much better with the IBT. I fully expect an IAM screw job again, keep putting the same TA out time and time again till they get the vote the union/company want.
Stay strong

and my understanding of your scope says any new work the company outsources (that wasn't outsourced at the signing of the agreement) had to be approved by the union. They have already approved 787 outsourcing without a vote AFAIK. That is completely f**ked up.

I agree with you, the union was beyond WAY out of touch, typical teamsters though.
I would also like to add is kudos to the membership for standing up to the "B" scale for new hires. That would have been the beginning of even more seperation within the ranks. Teamcare is probably a freakin joke. Why have another very important item controlled and ran by the union, just like the unions pensions funds, which they hold the membership hostage by telling them they will lose their pension if they vote the teamsters (or any union controlling the pensions, like the IAM does) if you all vote this Teamcare crap in it will be another way the ibt can hold the membership hostage in order to keep the union safe from being fired.  I have heard nothing about the teamsters getting the pension done as they PROMISED big time during their card drive at UAL, my guess is, they saw they were getting nowhere with the co on the pension so they switch over to the teamcare shite for another way to keep the membership hostage. Yes this is my opinion, but trust me, don't put it past the teamsters to do something this low, they always do, and then the crooked stuff will start happening after the fact, be careful guys...

Agreed. All 7 of the reasons whoop-whoop posted were all very good reasons. Then I read an article that mentioned the "B" scale for the new hires as well as the lowered 401K match (BTW can anyone post the 401K differences?).  The article claimed they got it off the teamsters/ibt unions web page can anyone verify and post a link? If passwords are required you may have to copy and paste while your in it. Would really like to see their response as well as what other items they feel need work to get it to pass.

First we the mechanics are no longer machinists we are Teamsters. The contract proposal forced to a vote by united will surely be voted down by the Teamsters repairing United's fleet of aircraft.

NOT a tentative agreement, "forced closeout proposal". The company lied.
