US 807 CLT-PHX-HNL today...and tomorrow

Flight 807 from CLT to HNL has NOT arrived on-time (within 14 minutes of schedule ) even ONCE in its first 17 days of operation. That's got to be some sort of a record for the launch of service between two cities, for any airline. Way to go!

alot of days the flights have actually left charlotte on time......even early.....not much u can do for that.

Not according to FlightAware - late departing CLT every day although nearly O/T (slightly more than 15 minutes late) 3 or 4 times.

I think you're right and there have been 4 days when it was off less than 30 minutes after scheduled departure time and only once when it was off less than 25 minutes after scheduled departure. That doesn't point to being on time "alot of days or even early".

Stretching it out to off within 40 minutes after scheduled departure gives 8 days and 3 of those required a fuel stop. Counting those as out on time, that's a 50% O/T rate and 38% of those required a fuel stop. I'd hardly call a 50% or less on time rate "alot of days". That's worse than the rest of mainline on time departures (not calling within 15 minutes on time) despite CLT not having to deal with the snow that affected ops further north.

My New Year's Eve trip had many Delta passengers from their cancelled flight. Yes, a cancelled DAL flt.

Why is the focus seem to be on getting off the gate on time? Who cares when you left.....did you arrive on time? That's the important time. And apparently they can't get there on time on this route.

If 807 is ever to arrive in HNL on time (something that has yet to occur) it needs to start departing CLT on time. Today (3 January) it departed 3 1/2 hours late. There have been several days when this flight departed CLT multiple hours late.

It's delayed again today, apparently because 808 is late arriving in CLT. This seems to indicate that just one aircraft is assigned to the route. I know there isn't an abundance of 767's, but it seems like there should be 2 aircraft assigned with a routing such as CLT-HNL-CLT-LAX (or some other destination)-CLT over a 2 day period. There's no way the flight can be on time on day 2 if there's a major delay on day 1 that prevents it from getting back to CLT on time.

The ITA web site shows no non-stops departing CLT for HNL for the following Tuesdays in the first quarter of 2010: 1/19, 1/26, 2/2, and 2/9. Otherwise, prices (RT with all taxes and fees) range from $893 to $1593 for a trip duration of 6-8 days.

The US pdf timetable shows CLT-HNL operating X2 effective January 20.

As best as I can determine, different aircraft are used for CLT-HNL and HNL-CLT except for one day a week when it is the same aircraft. I'm basing this on CLT arrival and departure gates.

I worked 807 3 times in Dec. First flight was 3 hrs late because of a mechanical. Second time was about 10 minutes late because of minor mechanical. Third time was same situation. They have been ready to go, but to be honest it has been usually something small and of course waiting on the log book. Every return flight (808) has left on time and been early or schedule.

A solution I see is making sure HNL gets the inbound GIG as it has been landing at 5:30 or 6 am. If 808 has any issues, MBJ, which is a 767, can always be downgraded to another ac.

The flight is running more smoothly than it was. I just don't understand the obsession here with that flight. The passengers were some of the best I have had in a very long time. Even the ones on the 3 hr mechanical were very nice and excited about their trip. The only people obsessing over whether this flight is perfect are the employees. Yes, like all the other flights, it should leave on time , but the day to day, knit and pick of this one flight is tired.

But if it makes some of you happy, keep the B fest alive!
