Has anyone else heard that we will be able to get the US Airways non-rev travel card in August? I know there is a fee for it for US emps. I think it is like $50 a year and then give you free travel on US Domestic and just taxes on Intl. I heard on another forum last week that we will be able to get these come August. I also heard some people at ORD talking about it today on my way back to BDL.

Thanks!

Does this benefit (if it will, in fact, be available to UAL employees) extend to spouses of UAL employees?

And if so, what are some of US Airways Int'l destinations?

-synchronicity

I have not heard any inkling of this, but that doesnt mean anything. 😉
We currently do not pay anything for the travel pass for the year and only pay taxes on INTL trips.
Our current INTL destinations are (European only) LGW/MAD/CDG/FRA/MUC/AMS (seasonal) GLA/SNN/DUB/VCE/BCN

I cant keep up with the Central American/Caribbean stuff, but its a lot of places.

And the bigger question- will it be reciprocal? B)

About the only thing that I can add, that comes somwhat close to what you folks are saying is, that AA and UA have gone to a "zonal"(actual milage flown based fair).

To me, that sounds like it was something UA approached AA with(I could be wrong, it may be the other way around)

The last US carrier to do that(I think) was WN with AA(zonal)

My gut instinct is, that if UA has approached US with this possible non-rev deal, that UA might be revamping their non-rev policies ???

NH/BB's

I asked my station manager about it today and his response was [sic] "I cannot say anything right now, but I would be prepared for some changes in the nonrev travel system for us (UA) soon."

I then asked our station secretary and she said "United and US Airways are talking with each other about a seamless e-travel system so both airlines emps can fly on each other as they would on their own airline with same BP."

ZED (Zonal Employee Discount) fares are becoming more and more frequent. They are good because you can use them on any carrier within the zone (and the same countries because of tax problems) that flies the route. There are still a couple carriers that only offer ID90s/Svc Chg options, but more and more are doing the zonal thing.
Its also really cheap!

We don't pay a dime to fly on US metal..... the travel cards are free for all US and wholey-owned employees.

This is definitely interesting, as we have an ID-<b>95</b> agreement with UAL according to N*ETM UA as of today.

I'll ask a friend @ CCY to see if this is indeed true..

Wouldn't that be something if they extended the code-share just one step further and included the employees in the deal.

Granted that stand-by already stinks but it would be nice for both sets of employees to get one more option for locations the other doesn't fly.

I wouldn't be surprised if ZEDs are coming, but something more . . . I think that is only a dream

I think it's the other way around. AA has had ZED with LH and other Star partners for several years now, yet last time I checked UA still didn't have a ZED agreement with LH.

More than likely it could be the ZED fares. On the other hand, ID-95's are available to active US employees. So it would be nice to include both the airline employees' airlines...UAL & US. What would not be nice is if they were only available to "active" employees, while excluding those who are furloughed and/or on leave. I think it is a step in the right direction but how will seniority be determined? S4,S5? How does UAL determine space-a boarding priority? US is S1-S5 ...S-3 being active, S-4 retiree's, furloughed, S-5 for other airline employees...something like that. We'll see, I guess. This would be awesome to actually fly to your new Sydney routes just announced...

But not with code-share partner and fellow STAR carrier, US Airways. Boy does THAT speak volumes.

US and WO employees don't pay anything for travel cards... travel is free with the exception of upgrades and required intl taxes.

This is US's international destinations:

Amsterdam
Antigua
Liberia
Montreal
Barcelona
Aruba
Mexico City
Ottawa
Dublin
Barbados
Montego Bay
Toronto
Frankfurt
Belize
Nassau
Glasgow
Bermuda
Providenciales
London (Gatwick)
Cancun
Punta Cana
Madrid
Cozumel
San José
Manchester
George Town
San Juan
Munich
Grand Bahama Island
Santo Domingo
Paris (Charles de Gaulle)
Grand Cayman
St. Croix
Rome
Guatemala City
St. Kitts
Shannon
Kingston
St. Lucia
Venice
La Romana
St. Maarten
St. Thomas

That would be fantastic if US and UA worked out something out travel wise, it would be great for everyone.
