What's new

US applying for PHL-China

Are you going to file one if you can?

You can go to usairways.com/china - there's info there and a link to the e-petition to DOT. www.choicestochina.com. I don't think Parker or Kirby would disagree that the operation today isn't going great, but improving from the abysmal lows of March. Chances are we'll have a lot of this stuff behind us in 2009 to launch China service, which we ought to do. It takes about a minute to sign the e-petition and it means a lot to the company's future, so have at it.

Thanks usflak.

Me and my entire family have signed this petition(including my cockatiel Maxi 😀 )

Actually the operation has NOT improved, it's getting worse. And the ability to handle irregular ops is diminished not improved.

Until they get the CURRENT operation in order, no one in their right mind would support China or ANY new routes.

I won't even get into their interpretation of a "business" product.

You are a brainwashed kid.
And that's MY opinion.

What Art said.

And mommy can buy you a ticket to fly it.....if there is a US to fly on in five or six years. Odds of that happening are less than 10%.

Unfortunately, this application is a joke... I can't even imagine what the plane will be configured like.. The inflight service will not be up to par with all the other carriers i am sure of it.. UAL, AA, offer a three class config with UAL also offering eco + , and DAL along with CAL oferring a two class product, more in competition with US, however i understand they are changing to lie flat seats in business, from the looks at what US has, it would be a very long trip on that plane, and for the crew, I would hope they would give you bunks, you need it on that long of a flight, hopefully they would do a cargo bunk.. I just don't see it happening.. The Tempe mentality is absoultely horrific at best.. I am surprised Sherri Shamblin hasn't been shown the door.. She is the first one that needs to go, maybe then the inflight experience will change, but it will be a long process..

Well, many of the things you stated are quite accurate. Ms. Shambles needs to BE GONE like a rash of poison sumac. Crew bunks in the cargo hold.........ah, how appropo (I'll bet the morons are drafting up the compartment as we speak  ). US will offer their OWN version of LAY FLAT SEATS in a different approach....I can see them taking out all the seats and offering RICE mats and those poly filled pillows that 'squish' around (they're ironically made in China) and should make the Asian Adventure you guessed it, A TRUE Head Banging experience. The list is endless of why they shouldn't get the bid, I just pray the DOT uses common sense.

I posted this in another topic, but there has been minimal response since then.....so have at it....not a "Koolaid" drinker....just trying to educate those that are the opposite of Koolaid drinkers and think that the company can do no right.

"Note that the A340-300 will offer the same exact seating configuration as the old A330-300 seat chart. It will have the Envoy Sleeper section, the same amount of regular Envoy seats, and the same Economy seats. And the A340-300 is the same exact length and width as the A330-300. So that means that US will be offering the most room in economy, with the old 33-34" pitch in economy, just like the old A330-300 configuration. AA offers 32" in economy. CO offers 31" in economy. DL 31-33" in economy. NW 31-32" in economy. UA 31" in economy (they have E+ with 34-36"...but you pay more for it."

While the operation is still pretty terrible....it's not like the other carriers are doing much better....take a look at this for June. US....while still at the bottom of the pack is no longer last. AA...who is applying for service is lower. United, Continental, Delta and Northwest aren't all that much better....and look at the % of cancelled flights for NW. I agree that the operation is still crap....but everyone's is crap right now....and a lot of that has to do with the outdated ATC system in place right now...in addition to US's need for new technology, more employees, etc.

While the operation is still pretty terrible....
Wonder where the statistics came from - internally, US reported 61.6% O/T arrivals for June, which would put them next to last. Of course, that O/T percentage doesn't include the 1,203 cancellations (2.7%)......nearly 3X as many as June of last year.

LMAO  "I BRING YOU TWO PILLOWS AND LOOSEN YOUR TIE TO MAKE YOU, VERY COMFORTABLE! AND IF YOU GET COLD,I GIVE YOU MY KIMONO" 😛

Oh, is that too beaucoup egg roll under you kimono? Too beaucoup...too beaucoup

Interesting that US reported those numbers....this comes from The Wall Street Journal.

The formating will be cockeyed, but:

June 30 ............ DAY ... MTD .... GOAL .... PYM
Flights ........... 1322 .. 43565 ... N/A ... 44971
Cancellations ....... 16 ... 1203 ... N/A ..... 450
Completion Factor . 98.8 ... 97.3 ... 99.0 ... 99.0
D0 ................ 30.6 ... 36.6 ... 59.7 ... 48.6
D5 ................ 47.2 ... 52.5 ... 74.0 ... 64.5
A14 (DOT Arrivals). 71.2 ... 61.6 ... 82.0 ... 72.9

Jim

30 days worth of stats don't establish a pattern, if you ask me. USAir's stats may not be as bad in 2007 as they were in June.

For example, AA's numbers were decimated by hellacious thunderstorms at DFW day after day after day in June. July's numbers may look completely different now that the rain has subsided. Sorta like jetBlue's February stats. B)
