Call signs are very important to pilots. I'm not kidding. It's a pilot-thing so let it be.

It is not a pilot thing. It is an ego thing. The call sign is completely irrelevant. The only one's that even here it or say it are pilots and controllers. Don't give me the "internationally recognized" BS either. No one cares but those with the big egos who need to have everything their way.

Pick a new one that represents your new airline and get over it already.

Really... you guys have so many other priorities, like pay, work rules, and seniority. Do you fight over your crew meals when an engine's on fire too? 🙄

Gee thanks for the advice, Mr 1890 posts, half on the USAirways boards.

Those with big ego's???? Are you refering to the ALPA guys?

Those who obsess???? ALPA as well? ALPA-Wilson polls?

Maybe you should point out how the AWA ALPA MEC failed to inform their members of how a USAPA win would effect them. 😀

AWA MEC greed killed the golden ALPA goose.

Cheers

It could not have been the easts breaking their agreements. lol

Not that your comment has any relevance to the issue of call signs...

But since YOU brought it up let's take a look at some facts, just for fun.
First of all as a member of this board since August '02 I guess my seniority number of 201 trumps your 3244 number of January '04. Hence I guess my LOS and experience "MUST" mean my credibility is higher than yours, right? (by your own implied logic, the number of posts bears some correlation to validity.) Not.

Second, since there is so much whining, obsession, drama, and misinformation in the last 6 years about United, ALPA, USAPA, merger policies, and bankruptcy on the USAir thread it follows that this is where much of the discussion takes place. I don't start most of those discussions. Just add my 2 cents. (public board, freedom of speech, etc. etc. Sorry you're so offended by my presence.) Not as much drama on the United site since there is less drama in general among the United employees.

Now, since you criticized my 1890 posts in 6 years (less than 1 per day on average) let's look at some of your very own peers.
There is Nostradamus with 1505 since December '04 (Over 1 post per day)
There is the well known USA320pilot with a record 6383 since May '03 (Over 3 posts per day. But having been absent for long periods of time, his actual average would be significantly higher.)
There is AAA73Pilot with 1336 since May of '07 (Almost 4 posts per day)
Then there is the top dog... EastUS with a staggering 2423 in only 1 year (Over 5 posts per day!)

When you figure out how any of this has any relevance on the call sign of USAirways, let me know. Until then perhaps you can tell me why my last post was not accurate? The call sign issue is ridiculous. Almost laughable. (IMO) Is it going to make difference to the survival of your airline? Unless that is where everyone's attention and focus is. Is it going to resolve a seniority dispute or mend fences? Is it going to improve anyone's quality of life, pay, work rules, anything?? Adults acting like children.

Same comment to you. Redirect all you want, but my initial statement of the call sign fight being irrelevant and ego driven stands.

Breaking their agreement... breaking their agreement... broken record with nothing new to say cactusflyer! Thank God they did, all legally I might add. You have no right to East jobs. Your career expectations are alive and well out west.

The issue is not THAT you post, the issue is WHERE you post. Momma always told me to stay out of other folks' business.

Also, this thread is not really about call signs. It's about US Airways Pilot labor issues. And your interest in that would be....?

That doesn't make his observation any less accurate in this case. Having a view from the outside can often give you a better perspective.

This whole callsign controversy is childish. In the past history of all this company's mergers, the airline with the regional-sounding callsign was changed to reflect the nature of the newer, bigger airline. Did Empire, or Piedmont, or Pacific Southwest Airlines, or The Trump Shuttle keep their callsigns? No. Did people wimper and complain and agonize about it? No. Just keep the US Air Callsign, a nationally and internationally recognized callsign, and be done with it! This is really about certain upper, middle management guys not being willing to make a decision, fearing that they might aleinate a small number of people.

I partially agree with you but I won't tell you which part. I think U should use a call sign using the name of one of their oldest best known pilots or after Dupont's dog. I don't think this is childish at all.

Partially,

U (U is out to lunch)

You have no sense of humor.

Your last post is not accurate because your observation within your last post IS accurate. Most of us could care less what the call sign is, myself included. But I do have a sense of humor and I enjoy pushing someone else's buttons when they - that would be you - lack the same.

Or maybe you should just lay off the coffee.

USAPA Update

Fellow pilot,

Tonight your Board of Pilot Representatives will hold an informational conference call, with one of the top agenda items being the Company's announced "transformation plan" which includes pilot furloughs. We can assure you that the leadership and committee structure are committed to exploring every avenue to mitigate the effects of the announced furlough. President Steve Bradford appointed Courtney Borman to the position of Furlough Administrator, who will coordinate the union's efforts regarding furlough pilots. President Bradford is also soliciting additional volunteers from the West to help in this effort. President Bradford also tasked the appropriate committees to ascertain that the Company remains within the limits of our CBA and all agreements including the Transition Agreement.

Several important and related documents have been attached to this email and posted on the USAPA web site in the Members Only section:

Both the West and East seniority lists have been posted.

We have posted a letter from VP Flight Operations Lyle Hogg outlining procedures and agreements regarding the East Expanded Voluntary Leaves of Absence (EVLA) program.

For those pilots currently on an EVLA, we have posted a form to request an extension to that leave. Note that the deadline for extension request is 90 days prior to the expiration date of your current EVLA.

For those East pilots wishing to request an EVLA, we have posted an East EVLA request form. Note that the deadline for submission is this Friday, June 20th, at 5:00pm EDT.

We continue to explore the West contract for relevant information and will post that information when it's available.

We will post more information as it becomes available. In the meantime you may be certain that we are working both to mitigate the effects of the announced furlough and to support those pilots that ultimately are affected.

For any west US Airways pilots; if furlough is a concern or you care about your fellow pilots who may be furloughed, I would strongly suggest you get involved with your union in an effort to help mitigate furloughs. You have the opportunity to volunteer and/or provide direction to your representative only if you are a member. Join now and be heard.

If you're not part of the solution, you are part of the problem..........
