Just for the record, even the Kitty Hawk was involved in post-Vietnam military conflicts that did actually involve troops on the ground. Some seem to believe that only "their war" counts.....

Jim

..and seems a bit "odd" for one with such purported experiences in any case 😉

I'd say it seems real damn odd. This whole thing is some very weird ****. Making up an heroic combat record says all about a person that you need to know. <_<

Time out there, Jim. That's just pure, unadulterated BS within the context of this discussion. If there was even a single incident where Naval Air saved "hundreds of troops" from getting killed in Panama, Grenada (neither of which involved Kitty Hawk) or any other conflict you may be referring to, I'd like to hear about it. You are pretty much left with Somalia, which had no large ground battles where carrier based aircraft performed such feats.

You should also note that in the quote below our resident hero refers to such events in the plural. He would have us believe that he and his "compadres" performed these heroics more than once.

The BS flag is at full staff on this one.

And I didn't directly get a couple hundred pax to wherever they were headed with my gray jet, but there were times when hundreds of troops on the ground maybe didn't get killed because myself and my compadres did our jobs effectively. And we wouldn't have been able to do that if we didn't bring our assets home to the boat every time - sometimes with 20 minutes of gas.

That is so, unlike you.

I did not get that feel at all. I believe the person even mentioned the Somalia episode as a possibility.

Thanks for the prompting, even wiki has a pretty interesting history of CVA/CV-63 including being the first carrier to fly the navy jack as well as "stealing" a Soviet submarine's screw.

NLC talks like a not-pilot and until that poster has proof otherwise, I believe that is how many will view his "contributions".

As usual, partial quote, taken out of context. And a meager, at best, attempt at belittlement.

I provided a link to an historical full quote you made regarding the concern for available fuel at destination. This shows your hypocrisy when compared to your recent posts.

Hypocrisy seems to be a habit of west posters on this board.

OK OK.

BoeingBoy Jim was the closest on this one. Everyone else needs a little hint.

Have any of you guys heard of the Fan Song radar? How about actually hearing a Fan Song radar? Hint within a hint: the Fan Song acquires targets and directs an 1800 kt telephone pole towards same.

My sons served in Desert Storm. I cheered them on and sent them care packages.

Some folks just can't seem to get their bombs on target.

Yep, I'm an old fart.

And I'm sure those that have tried to disparage your "authenticity" will be quick to apologize for their presumptuous remarks.

Perhaps even DarienCC (Bill Murray) will haul down his BS Flag and run up the Stars and Stripes in your honor.

One of my brothers was in that little dust-up but probably before you - he was flying the Thud in that other branch of service. Fortunately, the closest I got was S Korea more toward the end.

Had a great time in Puson - got some great deals on tailored suits and "Shithots" there too. My first experience with kimchi and binjo ditches - still not sure which one is more despicable.

Looks like Cleary got his rear handed to him by Parker and a well spoken US captain at the CLT crew news (followed by a round of applause from the audience). Ouch USAPA.
