Where did this rumour come from, of US being sold to UA and HP to NW? Sometimes it's CO for HP but mostly NW.

I've heard this over and over from tons of different people all over the system. Sounds highly unlikely to me, but where did the rumour start?

From those UA sugar packets that someone had on a US flight......

The variations include Doug and Scott allegedly spending a week in Chicago, United people hanging around the Sandcastle, and my favorite-Doug Parker, Doug Steenland, and Glen Tilton spotted at a table together in Scottsdale. Like an airline version of "The View." Oh, and Scott Kiby casually detailing the plans of this scheme to a gaggle of HP F/As in the galley, on a flight from Chicago.

Oh my goodniss...the Westies think US East is tough...wait until they meet the NW people

I think that rumor actually started on here like last week or the week before. Remember, one of the AWA people flew with someone who had Scott Kirby on a flight from ORD-PHX and "allegedly" Scott Kirby was hanging in the back galley with the f/a's and informed the RSV AWA flight attendant of the plans to sell PHL to UA and merge AWA and NW. I might be a little off but I think that was the plot.

During the state of the airline and the latest crewnews, the rumor wasn't totally squelched. The answer was basically that it wasn't exactly true, however, Doug has said that there will be consolidations, and that we want to be a part of that. After the last fiasco with DL, they are probably keeping it as quiet as possible. They seem busy doing something, and it's not running the daily operations of this airline.

They have no idea how nice Easties are in comparison to that militant group.

You gotta give those NWA F/As some credit- they are pretty tough.

Of course they are going to deny it at the State of the airline meeting.... Q: Are we merging with so and so? A: Oh yeah, didn't we mention that? Not that I'm saying it's true.

What benefit would splitting it be to US mgmt? Big payoff but where would it leave them? Would the Sandcastle management take over one of them?

Just imagine a 747 with no galleys or closets, catered with 800 granola bars and two sleeves of party cups.

Here I am at headquarters in search of Sherri Shamblin to discuss widebody service flows.

Oh, NO....I just realized that if this happens, what will become of the Heritage Circle?   🙄

Hopefully placed in a Timecapsule and buried in the bowels of the CHQ on the Rio Salado. Move in the bulldozers and level the place! (I NEVER liked it anyways!)

These rumors are interesting, but I doubt they would happen. Why? Because THEY MAKE SENSE.

When has the Sand Castle ever done anything that makes sense.

Kidding aside, however, I could see it happening. Fleet wise, perhaps an a/c swap would be worked out--UA Airbus engine type matches west, while east matches NW... or not.

Interesting nontheless.
