So, news from Tempe should be coming down the pike soon. From what I understand it will be a very unpopular decision amongst the F/A ranks. It could be a multitude of things, However it is said not to cause furloughs. I am guessing that they will be ripping first class cabins out on all domestic and going to all coach. Other than that, the only thing I can think of would be them stopping European service (which I don't think they would do) or not go forward with CHINA.. However, based on the rumblings I have heard from VERY reliable sources I would go with option number 1... Thoughts, opinions, concerns..

Yea, were getting ready for the merger with southwest.
Not stirring the pot at all, Just telling you all what I heard, and just wondering if others have heard the same.. I am not 100% positive of if this is whats happening as lips are sealed and confidentiality agreements have been signed.. Just my thoughts.

I think US should be all coach domestically. I mean if they are not going to operate a true frist class service then why mislead people. It's all about setting and breaking expectations. If you set the expectation that your going to provide a true first class service and then break out the party cups then people will be more upset if you did not set that expectation.

I have been hearing rumors that there has been some serious consideration by management to start charging for sodas and pretzels in the main cabin.
So much has happened in the last few days while I was flying that I am borderline speechless with the deplorable direction this airline is heading. I am cringing at the thought of what else may be done to further cheapen this airline to an all time low.
Before anyone chimes in and says "just quit and go somewhere else"...trust me, that option is becoming more and more appealing with every stupid decision that management throws our way. :down:

Until or unless the original poster can come up with some more solid information than rumors, we're going to close this thread by the end of the day. There's already enough bad news on these boards, we don't need unsubstantiated rumors causing more trouble.

In the America West days, there were debates all the time among the management ranks about removing first class from the planes. But it was always shot down because they needed to differentiate themselves from Southwest and be able to maintain a revenue premium on some of the mid-haul and longer-haul markets. Parker came on right before 9/11, and if they kept first class in the planes from 2001-2006, when airlines were bleeding money....I seriously doubt they would remove them now. Especially after merging with US!! And why would they waist the time of getting new meals in first, re-introducing hot-towels to first, buying all new flatware for first, etc., if they were planning on just ripping it out. You may have a rumor...and while you "think" it is removing first class....I think you are definitely wrong.

That's scary to hear you thinking about leaving, that just shows the unbelievable direction that this place has gone. I never thought that I'd be saying the same thing about leaving but unfortunately it's becoming more and more apparent every day. Truly sad!!
If they take them out will Southwest then buy US? =)
