What's the stock symbol for the new US Airways? I did a Yahoo Finance search and it only brings up the old UAIRQ.OB symbol which is the "bankrupt" stock. It's trading at 18.8 cents/shr.

The new symbol is LCC

Thanks. Next question: When does it start trading? Yahoo Finance says that LCC is not a valid stock symbol. Maybe in can't be traded until US Airways is officially and completely out of BK.

I thought the co. was going to try to get the "U" symbol back.

I think another company already grabbed the U.

And LCC is the Lumina Copper Company on the American Stock Exchange.

LCC is the symbol--it was announced at least 2 months ago.

It starts trading tomorrow morning (Tues 9/27), "day 1" of the merger. Doug will ring the opening bell at NYSE.

Did Doug tell them he'd be there?

The NYSE schedule this week doesn't show any more guest "ringers" until Thursday (Secretary of Commerce Gutierrez) and Friday (DSW Chairman/CEO SChottenstein.)

And there's NO information anywhere on the NYSE site about LCC being a valid ticker symbol. You'd think SOMETHING would be posted less than 24 hours in advance of the stock trading.

If Doug gets turned away at the door, have him call me. I'll buy him brunch.

Well, he is a big-time CEO now . .maybe he's allowed to just show up unannounced 🙂

Perhaps when doing a poll like this, it is best to disclose what the inital offering price will be on the new stock will be. Since I doubt a stock that will open around $15 a share (I believe that is the number) will lose over 60% of its value the first day. LOL

Bank on it. He will be ringing the bell, so I wouldn't make any plans for buying him brunch 😉

Philadelphia Business Journal - 4:04 PM EDT Monday
US Airways, America West spend last day apart
The merger between US Airways and America West Airlines closes Tuesday.

Starting Tuesday, the combined airline will trade on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol LCC.

I wish people would do a little research before making a post.
