What i Think US should do

well atleast a 17 year old gets some credit lol.l

Honestly, DP has no clue what to do in international,There are a ton of used 767s on the market which he could get to expand to places. Right now the hottest routes are to DXB,BOM/HYD/DEL, NRT and of course PVD or w/e it is. DP should have converted everything from AWA to US because US was the bigger airline with more complex systems that COULD handle a small airline like AWA.DP and gang were stupid enough to bring in their crap that wasnt used to A330s showing up on SHARES...I bet Shares is so crap is shows A330 as a un identified aircraft, or A#@#$. I am going to try to NR to CLT-LGW in the summer. Havent been on a A330 in a LONG time (4 years ?) The A330 US has has been world recongized for its comfort/space/technology etc, why mess it up and make it the worst one from the best ?

PVD is Providence, Rhode Island. It hasn't been a hot route since SWA started it's first BWI destination there back in the early 1990s.

PDV is Provdiv, Bulgaria. Hot destination?

Peking, China is PEK.

Please tell us what you are talking about when you call PVD a "hottest route."

It doesn't matter if there are used B767's on the market right now, or if US has the necessary funding to lease or purchase them. It's all for naught because ALPA keeps shooting themselves in the foot by failing to agree to pay and scheduling structures so that US will have pilots to fly them. It would be nice if US were able to increase/decrease the fleet as necessary, but ALPA stands in the way each and every time.

US is the only major international carrier in the US that does NOT go to India.US needs to get back to what it used to be in terms of service back in the day with the most comfortable planes and such, and go big time international. ALPA does get in the way, but i dont know much about why though. Only if ALPA agrees to fly all these planes.
i hope we get a 777 =)

You can only justify a certain amount of international service out of Philly... nowhere near what other airlines can do with New York, Los Angeles, Chicago etc. A few more European cities, maybe TLV and one or two Asia cities.

Charlotte and Phoenix... hello, never going to be any sort of meaningful international gateways.

US was a regional airline, gobbled up other regional airlines, and still is, in my opinion, two very different and dysfunctional regional airlines. The airline never grew into a serious international or even domestic competitor like the Big 5. In this late stage in the game, they have painted themselves into pretty limited opportunity with the route system. As always the game plan is to protect the status quo until the next merger, when capacity can be cut, mostly from what is now US.

Unfortunately, the ghetto international destinations are already being served by airlines with a long history and a practical (or legal) stranglehold on the market from the U.S. -- Colombia, Africa, Phillipines, etc. Even Eastern Europe isn't ghetto enough for non-stops from Philly IMHO.

The nice places are already served by nice airlines through nice hubs. US would be better off sticking to its core compentencies of serving places like PGV rather than trying for PVG.

US should aim to be a cross between JetBlue and United. "Low cost" is not a brand, and certainly not an identity that motivates any employee.

Agree US needs an IDENTITY besides LCC, there needs to be more to it to motivate both employees and customers. Give them both a reason to want to CHOOSE to be apart of this company.

Need to standardize the domestic product, but an amazing IFE in domestic economy with leather seats. That does put US ahead of the curve, but at least puts on par with JetBlue, Frontier, and soon to be Virgin America (which likely will be a force). So Southwest does not have IFE, but the have leather seats, end of the day Southwest succeeds because customers get onboard expecting NOTHING for of substance inflight.

The other carriers including US, have a tendency to over promise and under deliver, sad but true, basic of marketing in this situation, under promise and over deliver.

Think for US to truly succeed US needs to be treated as two airlines (NOT EAST vs WEST) but:
1) US Airways - North America (Domestic): Trying to compete with JetBlue, Frontier, Virgin America in product offerings like top line IFE and leather seats in economy.
2) US Airways - International: There are so many great international airlines, but need to be realistic, so try to offer the best product US can given the aircraft US has, do not strive to be the best international carrier, instead stive to be the best American USA carrier...so put a true lie flat in envoy like DL has announced, follow CO model with 757 internationally...they are banking with these aircraft.

Do not mean to sound preachy, but lastly all US employees really need to come together and forget about East vs West or West vs East and focus more on the carriers above thinking how helping that lost customer as you walk down the concourse instead of walking by, will have them thinking after you leave, wow, that was nice. Each small little act of being nice and helpful will only help build the US Airways brand.

WOW my thoughts are just a flowing...finally, in regards to the aircraft livery, the one thing I truly dislike is how the flag is applied to the wing tips on the airbus, looks like after thought. Virgin America and United did some nice work on their airbus wing tips.

That was a bunch of good ideas in one succinct post. Good job!

Here's an additional thought: US shouldn't be "The Low Cost Carrier". It should be "The Right Price Carrier", and the cost should be the right cost as well.

I have been requested to obtain the services of Dawn Gilbertson, of the Arizona Republic. She has been phenominal! to the results, preseeding; and to the merger of AWA and US AIRWAYS.
May 9th, in Phoenix, Concourse B, British Air. 10:30am and then PAX and The 3:15pm for Fleet/Mechanics! Doug will
have to face US.
If we want this airline to survive, the Board of Directors, Creditors, and Shareholders will have to listen.
This is a one of a kind, Legacy vs. Low cost carrier.
Know one knows it better than the "Cut, to the Heart, Employees." We have seen it with the IT department asking for FFocus. And the cuts of the Alpa and Inflight and Mechanics/both sides, and Fleet/both sides. Not to mention the Cleaners/caterers. When does a company recognize ALL the Help!
This is about the survival of Americans. Our investments are about real investments. NOT ON PAPER!
Ya, know, this is a real feeling. Take it our leave it!

Not sure how this post pertains the rest of the posts in this conversation, but hey ok, thanks letting us know.

Did anyone see the AboutUS today ??
it has NOTHING in it regarding aircraft orders or anything, but full of useless #### that is boring and useless. What is happening here is not good, the stock is dropping, service is horrendous, why in the world would someone crap a airline up that badly, in bk, US management didnt change anything on the planes regarding seating etc, now they suck like crap.
