Nice to be on the wonder what would happen side, and not the gee would I have to move side (early retirement IS wonderful). How important would CLT be to the new Company? Who loses PHL,CLT?

Best to everyone and the deal "rights the ship"!

Good luck. 🙂

Not much - it will remain very important to the combined business entity.

Very low costs. Relatively high fares. Good connectivity (especially north-south). Good weather. Fortress control. High growth region.

Assuming a merger, I don't see any chance that the combined entity would want to do anything to draw down its presence at CLT.

The current talk is about 40 to 60 planes being lost from US in the AWA deal. How can this have no affect on CLT? Sounds like a pulldown to me current system wide. Time will tell.

I think if anything you will see a dramatic rise in CLT operations, especially with E-170/190 and CRJ-700/900 flying into the midwestern US...

IMO a midwestern hub is a mistake, but that does not preclude a large incrase in direct routes from CLT into the midwest...

I would think that the merged HP-US would want to keep a focus on CLT and lower fares somewhat... I would think that HP-US would want to be the leading LCC from CLT before AirTran gets too much traction and before LUV enters the market.

CLT will get lower fares as long as HP's pricing philosophy is maintained for the new compay. If it doesn't, then the new airline won't be a low-fare airline and definately won't be an LCC.
