What would everyone's stragetegies be if they were made next CEO? I'm talking specifics, everything from routes to labor managment.

Lets see if YVINTERN was to replace Doug Parker...

First I would...
-Cut Executive Management Salaries by 10-25%
-Clean House, get rid of incompetent SVPs, and VPs
-Fire the moron in charge of Revenue Management

Then I would...
-Start negotiating with all the labor groups to renegotiate new contracts to everyone's satisfaction.
-Start retrofitting the entire fleet once again with new entertainment systems and increase the seat pitch by 1-2 inches domestically and 2-3 inches on transatlantic flights(A330/B767/B757-ETOPS).
-Add new CLT to ABQ Service just for you Shannon! and PHX-PBI for me (I'm greedy but this flight would do well).
-Appease the Frequent Flyers by dropping 4 tiers and going with an new structure tier for the vFF programme by going with three tiers at 30K/60K/90K Miles or 40/80/120 Segments...Bonus Mileage would be 100%/125% and 150% for our Chairman Preferreds. NO more BUYING STATUS...IT IS ALL BUTT IN SEAT BIS MILES.

-Oh yeah...I would as CEO follow Needle's philosophy by making myself available to the customers by flying on two-four flights a week and no puddle jumpers...I'm talking trans con flights or transatlantic flights and I'd fly in Coach always.

As soon as I got this piece of doo-doo operation turned around...Acquire one of the following Allegiant or AirTran and staple them to the bottom of our list and train them on the new company culture at the combined carrier (We need the 737s and 717s to replace the aging 737-300/400 fleet) and mmhmm...bring back the FLL Carib Ops

ditch the swoosh and get a real livery.

That too...

Maybe a cool livery like

Take Fusion out and put in U S 😉 That would be kick-ass 🙂 same scheme but our colors in of course.

Based upon our past CEOs' strategy, you sir, are well on your way to Chairman Emeritus.
implicit in "ditching swoosh" is a complete professional re-branding, international expansion, and investment in customer ammenities... (a la stephen wolf)

and, since i am performing this evening, it is ma'am, not sir

My apologies. I'm always impressed by a woman who uses the term "livery".

Ah, Steve Wolf, the good old days.

But why bother? Simply use 1/2 of my suggested strategy as he attempted. (I'll allow you the discretion of selecting which part).

i love discretion. i also love signature suspenders. maybe we could incorporate them into the new business casual uniforms? heritage suspenders, even?

the more i think about it, the more i think that the fflyer diaspora that DoUgIe has created could be beneficial under a talented management team... i am envisioning an entire marketing campaign designed specifically to re-attract all the fflyers that DoUgIe has alienated... instead of "we apologize for our mess", "we apologize for THE mess" with a picture of DoUgIe's mugshot centered between 'for' and 'THE'. it would be compelling. and it would be symmetric.

stephen wolf, like him or not, understood the value of perception. just ask the airline hiding behind door number two--ual.

what does swoosh communicate to you?

what does swoosh communicate to our (now mostly abandoned) fflyers?

cheap. cheap. cheap.

and, just for you, Juniority...i'll say it again: livery 🙂

New aircraft paint, take the money and run, new inflight mag., take the money and run, better wine, take the money and run, three more different types of aircraft, take the money and Run!!

If you are going to be a low cost carrier, act like one.
Seperate Domestic flying with International...
Domestic would be run much like SWA...
More Hub and Spoke flying...
Find out once again if the business flying can generate the revenue it once had. IE: Targeted Cities (ELM-PIT-RIC IBM) Go to the major companies we once had locked up and see where they send there representitives.
Offer companies RT's instead of miles for it's reps.
Vacation fliers to more vacation destinations...
Go back to some of the cities, that were cut back in the 90's and early 2000...
SAT, AUS, ABQ, just to name a few...
Market flying to convention sites.... LAS, MSY, SAT etc...
Get someone in sales who knows how to sell....CARGO!!!
Make your employee's happy... Apease them... Give them something to look forward to, other than how am I going to survive... paycheck to paycheck...

And for gods sake, make it simple....
Lighten UP, on everything...

Just my opinion...

I was going to chip in, but don't have the time or the bandwidth. Why bother.

I'd act like Herb Keller and gain the respect of my employees back.

I'd fly in a middle seat in coach to PHL and CLT, and spend my first couple of weeks working side-by-side with the frontline employees, and the folks who work behind the scenes (i.e. rampers, baggage handlers). CEO bootcamp! I would spend a great deal of time talking to the employees and the customers to get their feedback on what works, what doesn't....and what should be changed. And then I'd issue a directive to my direct reports to make the changes recommended by the people who KNOW THE PRODUCT!

Happy employees = happy customers = happy shareholders!
