Who's Doing The Hawaii Flying?

Would it be possible to use the 757's to Europe in the off season? CO does it from EWR, do they need to be ETOPS?

not really. The surviving entity is going to acually be Barbell Holding, Inc. check the merger filing. Although Parker will be the CEO, President, etc.... of it

Actually, half credit for you and spin doc. Barbell Holdings will be the surviving corporation but the name will immediately change to America West.

One will have to think that once America West Holdings owns one major operating subsiderary, US Airways, that they will change their name to US Airways Holdings... Of course, that is probably years away, as America West and US Airways will probably operate on separate certificates for a while (like AA and TW).

However, I noticed that in the BK documents as well.

funguy,

I confess that I haven't looked into HP's corporate structure at all, but I've assumed that America West Holdings already owns one major operating subsiderary - America West Airlines. If that's the case, US Airways will be the second subsiderary (with possibly the U W/O being the 3rd and 4th).

I just wonder if there'll be that little sticker by the door - US Airways operated by _____?

Jim

The majority of US' 757s are US Airways orders, only 600-609 are EA birds, the 20+ others were new orders.

Just curious, but aren't all of your 757's from EAL?

(...assuming "your" refers to HP...)
Incorrect. Only four of HP's 13 757s are -225s (ex-EA). N907/913/914/915AW are the ex-Easterns.
Of the other nine, six are ex-Republic (757-2S7). NW got rid of them shortly after the NW/RC merger since they have Rolls engines while NW's 757s have P&Ws.
The other three are 757-2G7s. G7 is HP's Boeing customer code and indicates that they were delivered new from Boeing to America West.

I thought the filing papers said that BB was a sub of US Airways?? I don't remember where your post was with the pdf file, so I am probably sticking my foot in my mouth, ha!
I know they are going to change the name of BB, it was just a placeholder for the paperwork. Could you imagine the company being called Barbell??? wow, talk about steroids in the work place, *COUGH* BONDS *COUGH*.....

let me know....

total of 5 757, 3 currently etops, the other 2 on there way. going to 4 islands(hnl, hilo, maui and i forget the other off the top of my head), phx will do 2 a day to hnl and las will do one. dailys on the other 3 cities. offical announcement will be June 1ish and by the end of June they should have an idea on if the 757 will be certified by dec....

keeping ya posted

ok, correction....5 should be etops by Dec, right! but there will be a total of 9. HNL will be daily from PHX and then go to 2 a day later in 2006. LAS will be a daily. Looking at SAN or LAX from what I hear also. But yea, Kona, Honolulu, Hilo and Maui......

points scored, but damn, forget non-reving

That's right, the way I read it. Seems sorta strange to do it that way instead of having Barbell on top of US. Maybe a resident "jailhouse lawyer" could explain the possible ramifications.

Again, that's the way I read it. Barbell's corporate charter will be the surviver with the name chaged to America West Holdings. Maybe someone could explain the logic behind that also.

I would say tha if the merger goes through, that it will be a combination of the planes and pilots from both airlines flying to Hawaii. With PHX serving 4 different cities and LAS serving at least 1, that would take 5 to 6 of AWA B757 off of routes to the east. I think they will pull in some of US B757 to pull off Hawaii. Just my thoughts..........
