i thought i had heard and seen it all...and then this brilliant quote, sandwiched into one of this week's FAQs explaining the new boarding policies on the hub:
Why does EVERYTHING favor East?

let's see, if everything favored the east, we would still have closets on the a320s; if everything favored the east, we would still have a decent f/c product (including fflyer program); if everything favored the east, we would still have real creamers; if everything favored the east, our website would work...
i invite (see: encourage) you to complete this statement:

if everything favored the east...

- We'd still have the best livery in the industry rather than the Cheez Whiz limpdick one we have now.

The majority of the changes have been slanted under the WESTERN INFLUENCE and don't kid yourself. A simple polling of the customers will tell you that.

If everything favored the East, we wouldn't be wearing those damn pumpkin orange vests!

Actually the vests were an East procedure.

We have a guy in DFW thats been in the hospital for the past three weeks, wasn't wearing his 'Damn Pumkin Orange Vest' while walking across the ramp on a rainy Saturday evening and got himself run over by a pushback tractor.

He's already lost both legs and has severe internal injuries to go along with his crushed pelvis.

I'm amazed at all the bitching about a few ounces of fabric.

God forbid it takes one of you becoming a ramp pizza to get the point across.

Although I guess you really can't teach old dogs new tricks.

If everything favored the EAST the company wouldn't have to call for a "do over" after every little change that is made onboard the AC.

You lost me on this one .... the new livery is a GIGANTIC step forward for all of US Airways. Now scrapping Merlin for Scepter ... there's a big boner!

Actually the vests were an East procedure.

The vests are probably an attempt to get aligned with ramp procedures in effect everywhere on the planet except the United States.

In Europe, no one is allowed on the ramp without a reflective safety vest. This is why the transatlantic aircraft are supplied with a vest in the cockpit so the pilots can do their walkaround.

In some countries, the color of the vest is a code as to who does what. There has been a bit of a hassle in that country (I don't remember which) because a pilot wearing an orange vest sticks out like a sore thumb to the other ramp personnel there.

Actually the vests started with us in Maintenance, to be standardized with ICAO procedures we were required to wear them for Receipt and Dispatch.
