Guess you can't figure out that the IAM and US could not reach an agreement and voted on a final offer, it is called concessions, and since the Mechanic and Related had all ready given two rounds of concessions in the first bankruptcy the only thing left was scope and jobs.
Since no agreement was reached the Judge abrogated the contract, to keep labor peace the company came out with a final offer for the membership to vote on. The membership ratified the final offer which enabled the company to outsource the 757, 767, A330 and 50% of the 737s.
See if you were at US you would understand that, go ask ALPA, AFA, CWA and TWU why they gave up jobs also.
