You Can Quit

I know that this is always touted as an option - you can just quit if you don't like it. Okay, but are you gonna pay me off for the 15 to 20 years that I've invested in this 'Company'?

Probably not

In fact, most defenitely not and here's the crux of the problem - we want you to have loyalty to us but we are not going to honor any agreement we make with you and we will take every opportunity we might find to poke you up the butt with a splitered broomstick and on top of that - we'll do it with glee.

That's the thing there are options. We all can find other jobs. They are out there I am finding out.

We are not tied to Ua, sometimes you have to cut the cord yourself.

IIRC, in the case of military pensions you have to put in a minimum of 20 years. In that case, you didn't keep your side of the bargain. (I'm assuming you were being facetious, but some might not see it that way.)

Your gripes about the pension situation at United should be directed at corporate America and the federal goverment, because the former have only been taking advantage of funding loopholes for decades and the latter has allowed it to happen through creative accounting rules. Employee pensions are going to go the way of the dinosaur and the Edsel in America. While I truly am sympathetic to everyone's situation, I never counted on a United pension when I was hired. We all need to remember that like it or not, the reality of United's balance sheet and current Chapter 11 predicament is what it is. The company is simply doing everything at its disposal to survive. And the irony is that the ultimate fate of the company now rests in the hands of its' employees.
