$20,000 Buyouts.. - merged topics

I have to agree with twicebaked.

IF management were smart ( I know, I know that's a big if ) they would offer a buyout to the west as well. There
are alot of people out here in cactus land that hardly ever fly. They drop down to 40 every month except vacation months. In
those months they drop down to zero. Offer them enough of an incentive and they will leave.

It is my understanding that in the east if they offer it to one base (ex. PIT) then they have to offer it to all the east
FA's. Is that correct?
So, Cactusflyer, why would the F/A's on the West leave if they don't work/don't have to work, and can stay and get insurance?
I guess I'm not as smart as you think you are, but it doesn't make sense why a buyout would be anything our seniors would want to take a bite of...

Because YOUR seniors are about to become JUNIORS once the list is merged!!!

Sorry, just telling it like it is....not trying to create a war!

This is the same for me. 20 years seniority but only 42 years old so no travel benefits. I would love to take this but after 20 years I want my travel benefits. I have earned them. So gonna have to stick around for 5 more years. Spent the day on the phone with the company trying to do something about this but they said no way. Take it or leave it. Then the guy said to me that this isn't going to reach your seniority anyway. Nice huh.

Are you sure that it works this way? I retired with 38 years as a pilot and board as a S4. That was thanks to the new pass program.

The f/a's are the only group that board at senority even after we retire...we have this only because it is contractual.

Thanks I was not aware of that. Good for you guys, wish the rest of us had looked out for the retired folks.

Everyone boards by seniority (year of hire) its the priority that matters i.e. SA4P or SA3P

It's all about the S3 active boarding status. That is the Gold Card really. If you have 25/45 you board at your senority as an active employee.
Only if you were 55 or older for Res when we were offered the buyout. I had the 25/45 and didn't get it. The 25/45 waws implemented after the "merger' was announced and well after the date we had to have our agreement signed and turned in. So there is a whole group of us that were shafted and put on the lower boarding status. Still glad I left and most others feel the same. The last time I even used flying bennies was to go to DEN and that was a few days before Columbine..don't remember the yr.

This is correct and has not changed, at least for the time being. The boarding priority list should reflect that so there will be no confusion, since some are not familiar with our contract. It's a great advantage to be able to board as an S3 versus an S4. It's one of the things that I hope to take away with me--I need nothing else. They can keep the 20K.

Paleese, OFFER the BUYOUT to any one with enuf yrs to GET OUT!!!

Hullo ...Tempe???....Hullooo.....and not to just F/A's.

Are you kidding?????

That is over 6 million for just 314 people. That will NEVER happen.

Other groups need to negotiate buyouts if that is what they want.

Last time I checked the AFA fights for the flight attendants not all work groups.

Fight your own battle!!
