Clt and phl were both strong No,s. The problem in both those cities, we didn't have that many show up. 600+ no to 20+ yes was the count out of clt. But considering there are 1300 of us here, I didn't think it was a good enough turn out for a contract vote. Phl had even a less percentage than clt did. That's what hurt us.
A turnout of less than 50% for a contract vote in a major hub speaks volumes to why we, as a collective group, find ourselves in our current situation. Fleet Service apathy remains our continual enemy. Obiously, many who ***** and moan about their current contract and working conditions, could not be bothered to show up for the ratification vote. The challenge before the current NC, as I see it, is to find a way to engage the apathetic member.

Correct me if my Memory is Fading.... Wasnt it the Hubs and Class I Cities THAT SOLD OUT THEIR UNION BROTHERS/SISTERS in the First Vote causing the $5.00 per hour pay cap?   Making Class II Cities?

I heard the company wants CLP and tower jobs as management positions, anyone else hear this ?

The past practice of NC members visiting stations was a productive means to informing and ultimately engaging the membership. The Q&A sessions were very productive. Especially in outline stations, such as mine, who do not have the luxury of NC members being from their station. Solidarity and active engagement of the membership is required for any NC to be successful IMO. A sucessful NC translates to a successful contract for the membership. I believe the NC wants to deliver. I believe it's up to the membership to assist their effort. Lock and Load Brothers and Sisters or quit whining. Man up or Shut up!

Tim,

It is funny how you attack 700 but talk to Josh like he is your buddy. Many on here are suspicious of Josh and why a banker is so interested in us but because he hammers IAM you back him. What gives? At least we know 700 was a part of IAM and it seems to me that he has lots of knowledge on past history. Also, I think 700 generally cares about IAM members where I think Josh hates the IAM and I don't think he cares about any of us. Why are you so friendly with him?

P. Rez
700 attacks fleet service members and puts all responsibility on them as he never admits that the establushment has failed at any point. Josh, as far as i know, has never dogged the fleet service members but points out objectively how terrible and treasonous the leadership has been. I dont believe josh is a banker who is a disgruntled flyer.

Iam141 just gave up tower jobs at united with a side letter is what i heard. If its true then we will find out and we should be skeptical of any reagonomic language to follow in a us ta.

And people wonder why I always correct his misinformation.  Something is rotten in Denmark.

Maybe its time we take a concerted effort to just put him on ignore, there is something very fishy about this.

Little late for that.  Loose lips sink ships.

Amazing what a little time, and google will turn up...

Y'all have a nice time playing on your little forum, now.  Your company thanks you.

Tim,

What a Pyrrhic victory on behalf of the IAM with AS in SEA!  I knew the judge ruled in the IAM's favor a few years ago, but I did not know that it failed translate into jobs for those FSAs either!

I don't pretend to know what the best efforts of the NC will present to US FSAs, but I am so suspicious of anything being presented as an "monumental achievement" that I am already itching to mark "No" on anything offered for a vote!

Negotiations between District 141 and the new American Airlines will hopefully resume soon. IAM representatives have been called to a meeting with the National Mediation Board on January 21, 2014 for an updating discussion and planning meeting. It is expected that as a result of this meeting future negotiating sessions will be promptly established and talks will resume to reach an agreement.

AA announced their intent to begin integrating some company policies an applying them to US Airways employees before a new contract or single carrier decision is reached. The first announced policy change effects pleasure pass travel. The company's intent is to abandon the current practice and policy of US Airways and adopt the legacy AA policy. That policy establishes boarding priority as time of check in and ignores any seniority based system.

District 141 is opposed to this policy change and will vigorously defend the current requirement that IAM members board departures based on company seniority. Not only is this the historic practice of USAir it is also a contractual requirement under the current Fleet Service Agreement. This provision of our contract is unique in that it specifically identifies boarding priority as a seniority right. It has been challenged in previous merger situations and has been upheld. If the company is looking to change a long established practice that is protected by contract language there is only one place to discuss it - the bargaining table. The first thing that must happen is that negotiations resume for a full and complete agreement.

Not only did it fail to translate into jobs but the iam quickly agreed with management to support a new ta that forever washed the members away.
Plenty reason to be skeptical. Nc at inited said all the right things until they knifed the members in the back. Plenty reason to be skeptical with this eboard. I think at usairways that our members there still have a chance though through officer elections.
I think diversity instead of kumbuya sessions is academically more stimulating and will spawn better chances for members.

With "Envoy" being announced, you can bet scope will become a HUGE issue. DP's goal will be to outsource everything except the hubs, and some of those may even be in his cross hairs.

Also, any remaining cargo/mail facilities AA/US still man, will be gone in my opinion.

Aanotok how about catering? I dont know bout aa but at us we have our own I think but hope not but I do think dp will try to get rid of catering I hope ur wrong on that aanotok

US only has its own "catering" meaning bring the supplies back and forth to the planes at CLT, PHL and not sure if any other stations have it still.

Can anyone add to the list?

And US all ready has cut mail and freight almost everywhere.

US wanted Catering back in the 2004/2005 Chapter 11, PHL reps wouldnt budge, thats why there was so many cuts in other areas.
