Of course you would have red questions marks by the union not forcing someone to do their job. You are probably like Kev and throw it back in the companies face since they hire/fire.
 
What happen to the Union policing themselves. I see you're one of those who feel the more people that sit on their ass, maybe the more hiring can be done. Why don't you at least make sure those folks who are on payroll are doing what they are paid to do...you know, like real unions do, instead worrying about folks finances and if their in debt or not. Not that it's any of your business, my finances...never mind, it isn't any of your business.

I went THREE YEARS without working OT due to layoffs. I was not going to do it either. I even refused mandatory white slips back in DFW. 

Back in 05 we were so short staffed that we had whole gates unbid. Management loved it because all they did was offer OT like candy to the little money whores. Morning crews were getting 6, 7 and even 8 hours OT to fill the slots. I heard those pricks talk about buying boats with all the money they were getting.

There are people to this day that I used to like that I've never spoken to again. They tried to get me to talk to them and I would ignore them as if they were a fart in the air.
OT should never be a supplement for scheduled manpower.. the company is making out because of days off it takes 3 to make 2 and by offering OT they avoiding on paying medical and 401k and pension and a few other things. I totally concur !

Its peer pressure that gets people off their asses...I know its easier to say than do, but it has to be done

You ever heard of the term "Sued for misrepresentation" I've been a rep and who the hell am I to decide who the lazy bums are or not? Or should I just listen to you if you tell me I'm about to defend one? I defended the integrity of my contract. Not the individual.

Back to your other comment YES it is the responsibility of the company to do their job and not make it ridiculously easy for me to win my case with their incompetence. And maybe one day if it's you sitting on that hot seat you better hope that manager is incompetent so I can blow his case clean out the window.

If YOU are going to pick and choose who you think is worthy I hope you have never and never are a Steward. That's not what it's about.

That or management doing their jobs so I don't stand a chance in hell when they want to issue that discipline. I've seen very few competent CSM's in my day. Just a very small handful.

Some (many) slackers have no conscience. The only way is your stewards and up setting them straight. If the union can't make them do their job, then don't protect them and let the company fire them...

DFR...They pay the same dues you and i do and require representation. Its up to the collective whole to kick their ass off the couch.

By the way, how about ditching the red marker!

AANOTOK you just CAN NOT do that. What part of that don't you understand? What if people I know tell me YOU are a slacker? Should I put in a half ass effort to defend you?

 Look up DFR and read about it and decide for yourself how you can or would work around it. Then come and tell me how it's done.......
 
Before lawyers got involved what you wanted was common practice AANOTOK. And if anyone tells you that that is still how their union does it they're lying to you. Unless they are in construction where it's basically a temp job and a safety hazard so the Union foreman dictates the actions and they can throw someone off the job site. 

Once that member passes probation he has all the rights afforded to him under the CBA.

Some jobs in the past had a 5 year probationary period. The Post Office was one and my friend who is a court officer for the State of NY was also on probation for 5 years. At AA it used to be 6 months. Now it's 4.
