At this point, the longer these contract talks take place the better! IMO.  The industry has consolidated, airfares on the rise across the board and the profits to come for all airlines are going to make last years look like a warm up.  The company would be foolish to not put something out right now and sew up a medicore deal to laugh at fleet when the real profits come.  At a minimum we should be shooting for SWA pay rates.  After 3 years if the contract to vote on has more outsourcing, lame $1 more an hr, higher insurance, ect. then that tells me that 3 years have been wasted by the IAM as that could have been voted on long ago.  This contract better be something special!!
And let's not forget that more they all jack around with a fair contract, the more paramount retro pay becomes. Without it, you can count on a resounding NO vote from me as well as anyone else that I can educate prior to a vote.

Attention All Eligable Voters

Allow me to intoduce myself, I am Joe IAM. I am an incumbent AGC in the upcoming district election on June 12th. I am asking you to vote for me. The reasons why? I don't want to lose my hundred thousand plus salary per year, my good medical and possible future district pension. I am sorry that you have not had a raise in the past three years or any hope of getting more scope in your contract, but I am doing the best I can do.You know how hard it is to work from home? I am also busy with e-board surf and turf dinners, confrence's and conventions, that's why I don't have time to negotiate in the month of June. It's not my fault you grievence's are not answered on time or you don't get station visits.
I know you think there is no accountability and you are absolutely right and besides I don't think I could ever put on another set of knee pads or handle luggage. PLEASE I need your vote, my wife would never forgive me if her lifestyle had to go back to what ramp wages could afford and I also have two kids in college that need new cars. I didn't want to mention it, but when I do visit stations, I have women their I also have to show a good time.

Remember, I have worke hard for you since 2008 and I promise I will be there for you

Thank you
Joe IAM

It's not about Nelson, it's about accountability. I could care less who gets in but there needs to be a shake up. These guy's need to know it's a privledge to get this job, not a given. The current one's that are up for re-election are under performing and need replaced. Our dues pay their salaries and they abuse the privledge. These guy's should be visible every day in the hubs, not just at election times and should be vivting the out stations. There is no accountability and it all starts with delaney.

Why would anyone vote for the current ballot of candidates without mixing it up?  Expecting them to change after very poor representation for years is reaching.  I probably will vote for my own agc but maybe not, but I'll vote for both nelson and prez and Charlie brown.  Adding nelson to the mix should help speed up or bring about more accountability by bringing in diverse opinion.  Plus something tells me he will run for president next year so he will have to bring us something back good for him to want to achieve that, plus we need a strong personality representing us as united gets everything with this union.
Hmmm. You may be onto something there. One does not have to vote for the entire slate of candidates. Crossing slates on the ballot of candidates is certainly acceptable and may produce positive results. Duly noted IAM Member Here.

I agree the longer these contract talks take the better. The company wants to get to a JCBA as soon as possible. Screw em! It's time the focus is on what we want and need! Spare me this "cost neutral" BS. That may have applied in bankruptcy but the economic environment has changed dramatically. It's time to regain some of what has been sacrificed. If the company wants to threaten closing stations, such as mine, if we don't swallow, so be it. There are casualties in any war. UA used the same tactic. The leadership caved and spun it to the membership. After the TA was ratified UA began closing the stations anyway based on the concession of scope.  If the leadership won't deliver the message then it's up to the membership! A sub par TA, regardless how the leadership spins it, is just that. If it walks like a duck, and squacks like a duck, it must be a duck. Ultimately, the membership controls their own destiny by accepting or rejecting.
LOCK and LOAD!
