"The brand we plan to use is US Airways. We believe that brand is the best brand for this combined entity. It certainly has higher brand recognition than the America West Airlines brand and certainly in the important business markets along the East Coast"

C — Airline Industry Conference
Event Date/Time: Jun. 07. 2005 / 2:00PM ET
Doug Parker - America West Holdings Corp. — President, Chairman and CEO
and it allows us to do some things that we wanted to do at America West like add some Hawaii service that we had not been able to do because of a lack of certification to fly over water for that period of time that we now have.
The brand we plan to use is US Airways. We believe that brand is the best brand for this combined entity. It certainly has higher brand recognition than the America West Airlines brand and certainly in the important business markets along the East Coast that are important to us. It also better represents what we are building here, which is a national airline, not a regional airline.
In a world where it looks as though these ever-increasing fuel prices are going to stay at these levels, I think it is important to figure out ways to not just struggle along but to figure out ways to actually be profitable at $50 a barrel. The way we have planned to do that is with the merger with US Airways to create a national network of low cost carrier that actually can be profitable at those levels and that has generated enough interest to attract significant amount of capital.

Hey, I understand the cactus 18 is now the cactus 17, let us know if he gets his job back

Let me take a guess here. = The intellectual giant that knowingly falsified an aircraft log book,  just so's to be a "cute" little kiddie? There must be some especially "heroic spartan" umm..."medal" for that, or at least a designer T-shirt for dogs, I'd think...? Oh well; at least the poor child has the lasting comfort of many proud, lifetime memories from all his "spartan bling" alone, I suppose...

Seriously though: I'd honestly hate to see ANYone permanently lose a job and career over such an incredibly childish moment of almost unbelievably poor judgement, and do hope the APA's working on the case...even if such efforts are directed towards the benefit of an obvious village idiot of that magnitude, who is, after all though, at least a supposed "fellow pilot"....Believe it or not; I hope he gets his job back, since his error was not one of safety at all, but rather just momentarily infantile stupidity. Clearly; the only possible grade for Judgement there is entirely Unsat, but that's for one ride alone, and permanently forfeiting an entire career seems a bit extreme to me.

There's no good spin to put on this, and I certainly don't at all condone such infantile idiocy among supposed professionals, but I bear in mind a conversation of a few years ago with an old friend who retired as a active duty "Wing King" of F15's, while we were honestly reviewing our sometimes mispent youths as junior company grade sorts, well...a cliche line from "High Wind in Jamaica" came up as we considered our respective lives of "piracy" and overall good fortune: "Haven't you ever done anything you should hang for?" 😉

The logbook is an official FAA document , no different than falsifying any other, application or record to the FAA , I have no knowledge if this even did happen, but if it did, the view is a falsification of an official record, not good! MM!

NO/zip/ZERO argument at all there sir....I'd just hate to see anyone's career, perhaps even life trashed from just a moment of completely childish stupdity...I don't care if the person's just a "spartan" nitwit or not. Unless other behaviors were already evidenced; I'd think suitable discipline short of full termination might better serve here....Just my 1/2 cent's worth though. Just sayin'....

WILLFULL, BS, Sorry, I guess he believed he was above the rules!

Very obviously he did, but I'd still hate to see his whole career/life/whatever trashed over a single instance of willfully childish stupidity. Drawing a person to the brink of the abyss can often provide them a substantial learning experience that leaves them forever after changed, while kicking them down into it can only serve as a warning to others. If it's the company's desire to do that last; then nothing's to be done here.

Whatever the vast extent of our clearly manifest east-west differences though; I'll not ever loudly cheer for seriously dire misfortunes of any fellows within our own group....Period. Internet "Nyaah, Nyaahs" are one thing, but..."There, but for fortune...."/etc.

Playing "cute widdle kiddie" with an aircraft log book admittedly advances the term Stupid to whole new levels, but I personally don't want to see even that fool's life permanently crippled by just a moment's complete idiocy.

Slogans will not get you very far when confronted with the facts. All I have to do is point at the mini-arb granting the West pilots a seat.

I'd have to agree, since "This is Sparta!" and "The nic will be crammed down your throats!" have certainly never amounted to anything at all in reality...and many courts have generously offered even the condemned a seat in the electric chair/gas chamber over the years....

As always; have fun with your fantasies.

P.S. In fair and full tribute to the true intellectual acumen of "you'se" group: Don't forget to all buy your "The Last Bush Pilots" T-shirts for dogs asap!...One simply could NEVER make this kind of stuff up folks. 😉

There must have been a big party at EastUS1's mobile home park last night with all the usual suspects in attendance.

Missed this gem earlier. Apologies for your not being invited, but the neighborhood watch naturally expressed proper concerns towards the sorts of people who'd be present, and rather adamantly insisted on reviewing the list beforehand. Don't take it too personally.

I say they should listen to the Awapa or lionidas league team... What? They won't do job protection actions? Really..... There only paid to do seniority issues.... Oh damn, he needs the protections of a full fledged Union....

Maybe his prior, uhhh no...u he pretty much told them off.
How about APA,,.... Well not at the moment....they are our adversaries....

Agh, now it's time for "super scab!".. He's from down under, tells how to heal all labor wounds....
come on guys, you have. The experience dealing with scabs from down under...your outfit survived on it...help your bro out....really...

Oh wait....he might have been senior to most of the west......ahh I get it , fj## him then, that's how you guys roll.... Nice, another number for you all... Class act!!

We all know from actual experience that the only "job protection actions" these pathetic idiots could ever manage on even their very best day would just be to don knee-pads and directly ask the CEO how to "turn in" their supposed "fellow pilots"....Which in NO way should allow any of us to EVER sink down to their level. I'll stick with honestly hoping that even that utter idiot gets his job back....Period. If it's an issue of a single transgression...well....he might some day outgrow the whole "spartan" thing, especially if properly motivated by the fear of an otherwise forfeited career from chidish stupidity alone....Who knows?

It may well be the case that the company's determined to make an example here, but I'll still hope the APA will do their best for even the likes of that sorry fool. It's never the case that a company hanging pilot scalps up for all to see's a good thing....Period.

However distasteful they found the bulk of my earlier posts on this to be; all were made with the supportive idea of seeing their unfortunate fool get his job back, and yet "minus votes" were received. It seems you're right on the mark with your observation there.
