Full fare AND NON- REV !!! Interesting.....
As for the guy Denied Boarding....Okay...When you turn 73 years old how would you like to be Denied Boarding AND have to Pay for a Hotel Room (On SS Income more than likelyl; he was Flying SW) I still feel sorry for him...he probably would have been fine on board..Flight Attendants should have been given the Call !!!
Why is it interesting that I non - rev? I will buy a ticket when I absolutely have to travel and cannot afford to roll the dice on getting a seat.
And I do have a lot of empathy for the man. I wonder where his family is and why someone didn't see to it that he made his flight OK. I would have never let Papi Certe sit alone in an airport. He might have made a fuss about my attentions but I know he loved it.
And what would have happened if at attitude he had a stroke? Given that he'd had few glasses of wine, at his age that's not out of the realm of possibility. What other medication might he have been on? I was worried for him!
It would have been nice if the airline picked up his tab for the hotel and transportation. I don't know what the airline's usual policy is for that type of situation.
Does anyone know what happened to him? Did he make the flight the next day? Who was picking him up on the other end?
Great. Now I have something else to worry about all night!
Colby, many years ago I got conned into taking an intoxicated man onto a flight. It was the last flight of the night, his wife insisted she would take care of him and that he wouldn't be a bother, that he had to be at work in the morning and that he wouldn't drink inflight. Well, right at wheels up, his call bell goes off. Of course, I figured he was getting sick and rushed to see about it. Turns out he wanted a cocktail. Threw a fit deluxe. I looked to his wife for help and she just shrugged her shoulders and said she couldn't control him. He ranted and raved and foamed at the mouth for the entire hour. I learned my lesson the hard way. I hope you never have to experience that. It wasn't fair to the other customers who had to put up with hearing it or to the other FA's who were distracted from their inflight service. I wouldn't let it happen again. And I'm sure you wouldn't either.
We all have to make judgement calls every day and a lot of that judgement is learned from past experience.
