AA Flight Attendant blasts management at an awards ceremony.

So quick to judge those by appearance Mikey? Are you really that Shallow that you now have to stoop to levels of judging individuals on their appearance, rather than respecting someones own beliefs...Wait? You live down in Miami, right? Of course, Looks are all that matters.
So you claim I judge only by appearance, then end with an appearance judgement. Brilliant, but like all of your post factually wrong.

Before you judge or make claim to something check your facts (please for once check your facts). Before you judge someone else about something make sure you are not doing it yourself.

Pfred Pflintstone?

Yes, he pfinally crossed the line again and got rebanned.

I wonder when he will be back to pfollow up and what his new name will be? 😛h34r:

I am sure that we will pfind out soon enough!

Sorry, but she looked like a total bimbo on MSNBC,

That figures, cant dispute or discredit what she has to say so you attack her appearance.

QUOTE (FA Mikey @ Apr 5 2008, 11:45 AM)
Her appearance and demeanor made her look like a ridiculous. She was unprepared and couldn't speak well. She hasn't flown in years, so her take is less credible. She claims of being fearful on a flight, but yet not enough to not get on and work the flight. The event was the wrong time and place. It was a sad, selfish act on her part.

Another one judging by appearance. One thing for sure is she carried herself good enough to save somebody's life, and for that alone she deserves some respect and credit.

As far as safety, the fact is that rules and standards are set by the company to insure safety and reliability, then the workers are expected to break those rules to insure profitability.

Not the right time and place? Well sometimes opportunities are limited. She sure got her message out didnt she?

If she could have been better prepared with her statement, look directly at the audience or camera and made the point,. She could have made a positive expression. If she had done something outside or after the event, grabbed a news crew outside the event. It could have been a more powerful statement.

She hasnt flown in years, she claims of being on a plane that was not safe, she feared for her life, but took the flight. She just is not credible.

Uh, OK. I'll waste everyone's time by trying to dispute or discredit her statement that every AA airplane is a flying deathtrap and everyone's life is in peril every time one takes off...

Well, if anyone is compromising their professional obligations for safety, it would be AA's AMT's. They're the last line of defense when it comes to aircraft safety, right?

So, forgive me for thinking that you guys had higher standards. I guess she's right. Better go turn on CNN to see which aircraft fell from the sky while I was typing this...

Problem is her message was totally incoherant. Even the commentator from MSNBC looked a little puzzled with her rambling...

So, no, Bob, it's not a matter of physical appearances. John Cusack looks great on camera, but still came off as an idiot the other night when discussing Iraq on a talk show... Equally incoherant and rambling as this FA was.

Well that certainly never stopped your before.

Actually we aren't, the flight crew is the last line since they are the ones who do the last walk around and decide whether or not to fly the thing.

Just because airplanes dont fall out of the sky every day it doesnt mean there arent problems. Most of the disasters that we see are preventable and are a result of known problems that are not addressed because those who make the decisions are more concerned with short term profits than the lives entrusted to them. I can only do what the paperwork says, I dont have the right to set standards any higher than the FAA allowed the company to set them. As far as deviating from the paperwork most of the time it puts the mechanics at risk of injury or death. Time pressures and the lack of equipement are the major causes but the disregard for the well being of the mechanics is telling, because its not limited to the mechanics.

So, no, Bob, it's not a matter of physical appearances.

May I remind you of your post "Sorry, but she looked like a total bimbo on MSNBC,". Total bimbo? Not everyone is comfortable being interviewed on camera. Have you ever been interviewed about an issue that was deeply controversal and that you were intimately involved in? One where your statements could make your CEO your enemy? It can be a little intimidating. As far as her performance at the ceremony that too would have been stressful due to the fact that she knew it would be an unreceptive audience there.

You call a woman who saved somebodys life a bimbo because she said things you didnt agree with, I call her courageous on both of those counts. She didnt have anything to gain by coming out and saying what she believed to be true yet she did it anyway. Perhaps she wasnt the most articulate speaker, so what?

OK, Bob. We can play semantics... Looked is a common synonymn for appeared, which is defined as "to be obvious or easily perceived." Bimbo is defined as a "foolish, stupid, or inept person"

So, reworded to make it easier for you to understand:

"Her comments and inability to put together a coherent sentence made it obvious and easily percieved that she was a totally foolish, stupid, and inept person."

She was foolish. She was no more intimately involved in aircraft safety issues than I am as a passenger. If anything, I'm probably more involved in it because I'm giving you my money, as opposed to being paid to supposedly take risks....

She was definitely inept. (without skill or aptitude for a particular task or assignment;generally awkward or clumsy; inappropriate; unsuitable; out of place).

And yes, she was stupid. Hopefully, I don't have to explain that to you in anymore detail.

She didnt have anything to gain by coming out and saying what she believed to be true yet she did it anyway. Perhaps she wasnt the most articulate speaker, so what?

If she had nothing to gain, then she didn't need to go on MSNBC. Her comments at the award ceremony might be worth more if she'd left the impression that it was impromptu and heartfealt from the moment. Going on TV changed all that. She had time to be prepared. She wasn't.

I heard a guy last week on a daytime talk radio show who believed that he had repeatd pychic encounters with Sasquatch. He obviously was passionate about it, and appeared to believe it. He was articulate.

He appeared to be an idiot, too.

Doesn't that make John Conley couragous because he had nothing to gain and with his comments about oil last week, and said what he believed to be true?....

Or did double-standard Bob strike again?....

And this thread has givn her another 15mins...

I don't see her as being any worse than an inept Dougie Steenland implying in a speach that his board of directors at Northwest Airlines were "forcing" him to take millions in bonuses and pay from a bankrupt carrier.

Or.... and embarrassed Don Carty having to explain why he had to step down from Arrogant Airlines.

I would tend to believe her statements over the aforementioned management liars.

Her hair could have been out of her face, that would haved improved her appearance greatly.....but look at Steenland's face. He looks like the weasel that he is, (appologies to the all weasels).

So you are saying that Flight Attendants have nothing to do with safety and that you as a passenger are more involved? The fact is that Passenger safety is the primary reason they are there. What makes you as a passenger more involved in safety than a flight attendant?

Unlike AA and other corporate giants who dump millions into the media her appearance was more than likely solicited by MSNBC. Its doubtful that she knew ahead of time how much of an impact it would have or that there would be any media interest in it, let alone a follow up. She was probably given very short notice.

Doesn't that make John Conley couragous because he had nothing to gain and with his comments about oil last week, and said what he believed to be true?....

No Conley was simply sucking up to AA management, and history has proven that they are very generous to TWU officials who do their bidding.

I said flight safety, not cabin safety. She's no more qualified to identify a MEL on the airframe than I am.
