Is the rumour true that AA are adding more flights into ireland next year???

Haven't heard any specifics, but considering we're adding winglets to 20 757s, it's probably a safe bet that we might see more Ireland from either BOS or JFK. The existing routings to/from Hawaii plus BOS-MAN/SNN and JFK/NCL leave several more aircraft available, and those long-thin routes are exactly what the wingletted aircraft are intended to fly.

You know I agree with the long thin route thing. But do you think it is because the plane seems to get thinner and thinner the longer we are in the air?

As a pax I get that same impression. The 757 is undoubtedly the most pax-unfriendly airplane that Boeing ever built. In my opinion it is the primary reason that Airbus overtook Boeing.

The ONLY time I have knowingly and willingly booked on a 757 is on the BOS/MAN route. The low price of the coach fare and sitting/sleeping upfront for the short flight makes it bearable.

Now I hear that AA is planing to "upgrade" the front cabin for "thin" international flights and charge accordingly. So, let's just see what they can do within that "thin" metal tube to create an overnight experience for which a pax will pay a premium fare. It sure will not be 2x2 seating!

I definitley expect that we will see Boston-Dublin 757 service added alongside Boston-Shannon, and probably New York City-Dublin 757 service.

Aer Lingus is all but confirmed to be landing in Miami in November 2006 thanks to the new deal, and don't be surprised to see Dallas launched in mid-2007.

Mark,

(As I believe EI did), With the short distance between SNN + DUB, would'nt it be wiser to operate the flt..BOS-SNN-DUB, then DUB-SNN-BOS ????

NH/BB's

We won't be seeing any tag ons. The new rule allows US airlines to offer three Dublin-US routes for every one Shannon-US route. So, therefore, expect to see American offering daily BOS-SNN-BOS, BOS-DUB-BOS, JFK-DUB-JFK, and ORD-DUB-ORD. Aer Lingus is all but confirmed to be starting services to Miami (both SNN and DUB) in November 2006 and Dallas (DUB only) in mid-2007, as they will be able to add three new US destinations.
