Heard today a 737 had its tail crushed today by a catering truck in Philly!
From what was told to me the new hired crew driving the truck decided to make a break for it with a hit and run they then got stuck driving away under a breeze way not supposed to be driven under by these trucks. Anyone got any other details?

Its no rumor Just had it verified by phone to phl...ouch the truck won....

The tail couldn't have been to "crushed" if the airplane was able to maintenance ferry to PIT for repair.

And Bob....once again you are ready to crucify someone without FACTS. What exactly is the comedy of errors that you speak of? A plane was involved in an incident. Safety was not compromised. The plane did not fly with the tail "crushed". No one on here has spoken of first hand knowledge of what happened.

You are way to quick to be the judge and jury. Get facts before you become the executioner.

Hopefully there will not be "Thanksgiving Meltdown 2005" to go along with Christmas 2004. With the same managment still running PHL I have my doubts!!!

Bob, who would you like to be responsible for this incident?

The person driving the truck?

His/her supervisor?

Their manager?

Their trainer?

Station management?

US Airways?

The FAA?

The United States of America?

Kent, you can't badmouth us all you want but I am not going to sit here and let YOU bad mouth the United States of AMERICA.

I think uncle Al needs another bonus
uncle al didn't do it . those workers did. why do people always blame management when it was something that the employee did. i don't get it sometimes. yes ,management is at fault for a variety of things. but employees have to take responsibility for there own stupid actions.

I blame management for many reasons let me list a few.
They furloughed/ran off, most of the experienced people.
they dont pay enough to get high quality replacements.
the quality people they do get are not trained enough and are overworked.
This problem has been ongoing for years.
Christmas meltdown.
War against employees from the bonus ridden.
equipement is in horrible shape.
Accidents happen but... If employee that hit aircraft knew what he was doing, driving the truck under bridge without clearance would not have happened.
If any senior management has been on the ramp to try and fix problems or even see what the problems are they sure have kept in from the people that understand the problems of PHL.
Management is responsible for all of the above.

So yes I agree the employee did hit the 73, but many factors contibuted to this event.

Who's to say that employee DIDN'T know what he/she was doing? It's happened here in PHX before by EXPERIENCED people. You know, once in a while employees need to take some personal responsibility for their actions. Safety both above and below the wing is EVERYONE'S responsibility, not just management's.
Aside from that, if the problems in PHL have been occurring for YEARS, why does anyone think it can be solved in just two or three months? If people take proper care of what little they DO have there, it'll probably shock y'all to see how much better things can run. Granted, it's still not adequate, but it'd be better.

Because in all likelyhood the EXPERIENCED employee would know the truck wont fit under the bridge

Blame the corperate machine!!!!!!!!!!!
