I read in crew mail that blockholders will be able to drop down to 40 hours. This was just negotiated with the company. Sooooo, the blockholders cry and their cries are heard AND RESPONDED TO.

By the way, no mention on how to help the reserve situation or ETB restrictions.

Laura, Mike, any one, any one??

If you read mike's E-line, it pretty much showed how we need to help the BH's. They are having a rough time of it. I flew with one recently and she told me a scheduler told her that scheduling was going to allow more TWOP, so RSV's would have to fly more. Again, RSV's are not here because a BH doesn't want to fly. It is sad that this company allows this. Elections are coming soon, aren't they. PHL is cleaning their house and other bases need to do the same. I would rather have someone with low experience in tere than someone who just ignores you. At least they new person would have some fight in them.

The BH has always been able to drop down to 40 hrson the ETB, but are responsible to pick back up to 50. Are you saying BH's can now drop to 40 and not make it up? I have seen no info on that.

And all of this helps a reserve HOW? We STILL are VERY restricted with our ability to pick up trips through the ETB which we should NOT have to do in the first place. What total BULL$H!T. Let me even HEAR a B/H complain to me. I'll be the LAST reserve they do that to.

I haven't seen the e-line yet. But if it's true, how is this going to help RSVs and the 24/7 rule? They can't pick up anything now as it is. How are B/Hs going to drop down to 40hrs if RSVs can't pick up the trips anyway. And I'm a senior B/H. Once again this union leadership avoids the real solution to the real problem....Pref. bidding. with an automated ETB.

I sure don't understand either. While it helps a blockholder to drop this does not change the ability for reserve to pick the trip up. This just makes no sense. Maybe the other half of the explanation will come out next week. 🙄 Even if it makes more secondary blocks it STILL does not resolve the reserve situation. And THIS is who we have at the negotiating table? We're ALL in trouble. 🙄 Maybe I'll send my grandmother to negotiate.

I just read the CBS. All this is is another little perk for B/Hs. This will do nothing to help the situation for RSVs. They can't pick up trips now, so how are B/Hs going to drop down to 40hrs. Unless your trip is a transatlantic, high time one day or an easy two day, your trip just sits on the ETB and collects dust. Come on people, allow us to build our own blocks (Pref Bidding).

Travel, this won't do anything to create more blocks. Allowing a B/h to "ETB" down to 40 hrs happens only after all secondary lines are built. Now if they lowered the SAP floor to 40hrs, that would create more secondary blocks.

sky high states: Wont that create more lines? Secondary lines?
only stating opinions
I see it creating a larger AIL sheet. Then what isn't picked up, would end up going to a RSV. Great, eat up more of my min. guarantee.

You are the first BH I have heard of, who is in favor of Pref. Bid. Don't let the Union know who you are, they might blackball you. Our union has never wanted Pref. Bid. They just wanted it long enough to sell it to the RSV's and then they let it go. They must get a luagh out of it, because we neg. it and I didn't realize it was an option not to get it. Wait until Flores comes to CLT with the new proposal. I am going to lay into him pretty good. I'm going to ask him, if he's just blowing smoke up our asses or what. Before he proposes anything else, he'll have to answer about what happened before.

Yes, it's that great blockholder conspiracy against the reserves. Give me a f****** break!! MANY of us wanted P.B. It was the company who didn't have the money or the will to implement. Where have you been? The union tried to tell the company they broke the contract as you couldn't have one without the other, but with true management style, they decided to find a loophole and gray area to interprete.

And as far as complaining, as a BH i can, will, and have many reasons to, but the bottom line is the system right now for both reserves AND blockholders is BROKEN. So please spare us your bitter delusional lies.

Yes blockholders have room to complain but what the blockholder is experiencing is NOTHING to what a reserve experiences. Again...if it seems better to a blockholder then bid reserve. Though the complaints pour in it falls on deaf ears. Since this new management is trying 🙄 why not implement the pref bidding then? It will NEVER happen. It is a blockholders world and always will be. A blockholder has very little reason to complain compared to a reserve. IF any blockholder doesn't think so then I say "Bid it, sit it and pay your bills off it".

I agree. I say go back to the old system and take away passing. That seemed to be the big issue to start with. The problem isn't that blockholders don't care. It's that the bar has been lowered in regards to what senority means. Gee, I was an reserve for 2 months when I got a block. That was in 1987. Today, it cracks me up when some 30 yr f/a says the trip went so junior. There are..... .......reserves... OMG...forgetting that that rsv probably has over 15- 19 yrs. THAT IS NOT JUNIOR!! To hear that is insulting.

It IS and SHOULD be a blockholder's world...when reserve was 2 yrs. Reserves were never intended to sit for as long as they do here. You and others would not be having this discussion now had our company not gone into the shhiitter, but it has. And it is up to ALL of us to FIX the problems or change the attitude of both the company AND blockholders.

Very true LCC. Though some b/h's complain I do know that most know the system is broken on both ends. Your right in that it should be a blockholders world. Thats IF it were a good system. The old system I think would work today if you got rid of the ability to pass unlimited. Though in the old system some forget that if you passed and didn't make your time at the end of the month you were on the phone/in the office with your supervisor. I know the company does not care if a reserve breaks guarantee. They don't want you to. It's a flat 73 for everyone. If this new management is going to have a happy workforce then they better listen up. Jingle bells is RIGHT around the corner. Lets just be honest here. For the some of us who have a passion for what we do there are many that will be "cough, cough" sick for christmas. Not feeling appreciated and kicked to the curb as a reserve has given MANY very little incentive to give it their all.

I like your attitude. I learned a long time ago that the company can take many things away, but they will NOT get my work ethic, personality, or passions.
