They were hired before you so they are senior to you. ....... And it is based on the date you were hired at America West. Or Delta, US Airways, Northwest, Continental, etc............

Date of hire is how seniority is determined when you are hired by Delta, US Airways, Northwest, Continental, etc.......

It's not how seniority is determined when two companies merge, especially two ALPA carriers.

It's a little late but you might take the time to read the ALPA merger policy we agreed to abide by.

Seniority is your position relative to the other employees in your work group. That's why it's called a seniority number.

That last is quite certain, and Alpo has to go...period. Meanwhile back at the ranch: Any personal problem with putting you at the very bottom of any seniority list? :blink: How about we start with this one right now? OH!..That'd be just plain "wrong"...now wouldn't it? :lol: Keep 'em coming :lol:

Two things come to mind here, first they are not by any means honorable people! They make deals then snake out of them with regularity

Seniority is your position relative to the other employees in your work group. That's why it's called a seniority number.

The second is exactally what you said above!! The bottom guy on THEIR ACTIVE LIST in the bottom guy on the new list! A point that has always been wasted on them because they fail to even try and understand. It's our fault in the west that the they had such screwed up careers and furloughed half their pilots as a results of poor management!! LOA 93? yup that was us in the west pulling the strings that forced that situation as well!

We are well on our way to CAL vs EAL part two but this time the stakes will be much higher, this time it will be texas no limit! We will both be all in and the house will be the winner as management has already set up the golden parachutes!! Once usair is gone for good then capacity shouldn't be much of a problem in the industry...
 
Maybe the lady at the unemployment office will give them date of hire in line to get their checks. Lets hope so, or we've got another hissy fit to watch.
 
You see fellas, seniority is how things work in the airline business. And if you think any East pilot is going to give up a freakin' day of it because of a flawed ALPA policy and an old man who chose to ignore it you might as well wait up for Santa and see if he can make it down the chimney. Because you have a better chance of seeing that than you do seeing Nic implemented.

If the east had voted out ALPA before Nic then standing on principle might have earned them some merit. But when their resolve only shows itself when they come out on the short end of the stick and then they conjure up a phony union to give the semblance of credibility to their cause, they expose themselves for what they really are.

1) Hmmm...lemme' see now: AWA's curent crop of Alpoid's "finest" were all for disposing of Alpo and establishing an in-house union.....then came St Nic..now; Alpo's the greatest thing since sliced bread...yeah..there's some awesome moral high ground and perfection of principles in action :lol:

2) I'm still eagerly awaiting your "personal lawsuit" that was supposedly going to take a house from me AWA320 :lol:

If you were honorable people then you would have had buy in from the west, you choose to not honor your obligations thus forever driving a wedge between our groups. You simply can not be trusted period end of story...

Just so you know the award was no early christmas gift to any of us but it also wasn't the lump of coal you were attempting to give us either. Grow up and honor you obligations!! You make all of usair look bad with these unnecessary antics that have cost your pilots thousands in earnings. Parity ain't coming without a contract and usapa will never be able to deliver that so don't fool yourself. 1800 pilots marching to a different tune spells trouble for you.

Heavy sigh...I do realize that I've a very long way to go to ever become "honorable" in your excellent fashion...thank The Allmighty. You'll have to nobly excuse my poorly assigned priorities = It's/life's NOT "all about me"..so our minds will simply never meet. Here's a thumbnail of the "Big Picture" as I get it. This 12.4 or so billion year old universe definately wasn't created merely to allow "me" the great gift of living existence. I'll offer that it's even very slightly possible that it wasn't made specifically for the benefit of awa folks either...and..there's even a very small, perhaps just a tiny chance, that despite what you apparently feel...you personally aren't actually the center of it all. I believe that there's shared responsibility inherent in mutual existence that includes some degree of appropriate respect and certainly caring. When said responsibility is dropped for purely personal gain...things go pretty poorly as a rule...actual wars rage, and entire peoples and cultures are sometimes swept from existence. On a much smaller, and far less significant level...witness all the joy that "St Nic" has actually brought to this Christmas season.

To be perfectly frank; Your apparent concept of "HONOR" or anything to do with the notion of "man up" to anything...I dismiss as the cross and angry tantrum driven tears of a "child" that simply doesn't know any better...and just knows that it "wants something"..."really badly". For your mindset; the term "honor" is merely usefull as a taunt, as you understand that it will irritate any people that actually care about having any. It's akin in your useage to a a young child trying out swear words, just for the delightfully extreme responses adults give to the same...and without the child needing, or having the slightest clue as to what the word(s) actually mean.

Ohh you really don't know me at all with a cost neutral statement! No I don't need to consult reality, you need to consult merger policy and the term BINDING ARBITRATION!!!!!! DOH has been and will continue to be DOA. You had over 17 yrs to change policy and you did nothing so don't come whinning after the fact! MERGER POLICY, BINDING ARBITRATION and HONOR, three subjects that you obviously need lessons in!!

Merry Christmas to all both West and East.

Our differences are astonishing but they are what they are. There will be no peace among us and we can thank a union that truly isn't a union for that.

I doubt there is a way out of this. This excuse of a company will be split and sold and cease to exist as we know it. And much of the reason why is because of the mess ALPA created by not assigning a national seniority number on the date we were hired.

But I sincerely wish all a very Merry Christmas and prosperous New Year. And if I may add something my Father taught me and we have taught our children that has allowed us to have the ability to take or leave this airline crap or any other crap life tends to throw at us:

There is only one person responsible for your place in life. Your moral, ethical, physical, mental and economic place in life is determined by the guy who watches you brush your teeth every morning. You are responsible for you.
