They cannot fathom what we have been through, assume it would never happen to them, and actually believe the Nic list is fair. It's not unlike the moral relativism that has overtaken this culture. In fact, it's quite similar. Anything is right if someone else says so. Regardless of long standing policy, precedent or, in our culture's case, morals and ethics.

What they think of us or don't think of us is immaterial. We will do what is needed to rid ourselves of this list and move on. Let them bluster and threaten and believe what they like. What is going to happen will happen one way or another.

Fortunately when you read the ALPA merger policy and the entire Nicolau award, it is clear that it is as fair as can be. It’s difficult to understand how this entitlement mentality has permeated the east culture. I guess anything is considered “rightâ€￾ is someone else says so.

What they (the vocal USAPA crowd) think of us or don’t think of us is immaterial. We will do what is needed to rid ourselves of this misguided attempt to derail ALPA and the Nicolau award and move on. Let them bluster and threaten the entire merger process, the ALPA union, and listen to their USAPA lawyers (as they continue to rack up the billable hours….wow, that’s going to an expensive lesson!), and believe what they want.

Oh..Believe me..I've fully gotten that in your mind, and as utterly incomprehensible as it really is to me, that for you: "It's entirely just ALL about ME!!" Hardly a difficult concept...but generally surrendered early in life via some/any actual degree of awareness settling in. But: Not to worry there I'll admit that it's taken me a great deal of wasted time and thought to actually come to believe that you truly "think" that way..but it's finally clear. After months of attempted reason: I think that I've been one of the last "hold-outs" in just finally being able to actually believe how and what you guys evidently do "think"...Words fail me other than: Have fun/Grow up/Good luck. 😉

A friend of mine, now at UAL was at EAL through the strike, even made the cover of Air Line Pilot.

I saw the offer letter for Shuttle (this was before Donald entered the picture). The letter clearly stated that in order to work at Shuttle, one must first RESIGN from EAL. EAL seniority would only be utilized to construct the initial list. So all those that went to Trump had a DOH of sometime in 1989, all 250 or so.

I called my reps and stated that in order to maintain the integrity of DOH, that ignoring the resignation requirement would be best for us even to my detriment. Hard to understand I guess....

Correct. I resigned from EAL, and thus felt no claim towards EAL seniority as things were structured. Carefull there..we might be on the edge of civil discourse here 😉

Interesting background. I imagine you were living in SoCal at the time and saw an exploding PSA as a tremendous opportunity for excellent QOL.

It was an awesome little flying club indeed. EAL, at the time, had far better pay and benefits but: How bad could any day be that started by walking around an absurdly painted plane with a smile on it's "face"? 😉 Absolutely great guys to fly with and just plain good livin' overall...My very fondest memories of airline life, and yes: what I'll always believe to be the most beautifull Ladies on earth flew for PSA. I feel extremely fortunate to have flown with PSA...while it lasted, and nothing in this short life's "forever" anyway. As things turned out: I wish that I'd bailed for Southwest (or most ANYONE else) at the first smell of USAir...but; One makes choices based upon existing circumstances and 'best guess" protocal, and Southwest wasn't anything to smile much about back then. FedEx was flying Falcons around, US had top scale wages and benefits/etc...Who knew? 😉

They've got the whole "career expectation" thing figured out. They knew exactly where their careers were headed.

The best reasonable"Career Expectations" ever truly achievable by any living human being =

1) Hey!...Hot Damn!...I woke up today! None of the amazingly stooopid sh-t I've ever done/seen/etc has yet killed me!
2) I've got reasonably safe shelter around me and mine.
3) I've got opposable thumbs and even a pulse...heck! I can even see, touch, taste and hear! See 1) above.
4) I've even got enough to eat, as does my family/etc.
5) Life's really, really good right now, this very instant...sigh...yeah 😉
6) It could all change at any given moment...and eventually will....but right now's good 😉

I was at EAL...and you've no clue of what you're speaking of. This isn't anything the least bit similar in nature.

"What you have been through is of no concern here" Your empathy for "fellow pilots", your "Brothers and Sisters" in Alpa does you great credit, and serves as a shining beacon for unionism everywhere. What you personally want for yourself isn't of huge concern either.

Rest assured that you couldn't possibly embarrass me more than you do simply by your sharing the same sky, even in simple commercial aviation..and I must realize that some people are tragically getting their impressions of what a "pilot" is like from you...I promise you that you needn't go a step further on the embarrassment trail...it's sufficiently humiliating as things stand.

Your initial ideas demonstrate that Alpo, it's various little MEC's, and overall "processes" and political games don't work worth spit. I agree. That has ZERO to do with USAPA thinking. As for "hold true to their word"?...Again = Alpo BS...not ours. Over the course of many years; I've yet to see any Alpo consortium that I'd trust to walk my dog, much less represent my Word at any level.

I believe when I say "their word" I am not only referring to AAA MEC but also the east pilots in general. You had your chance to elect and or recall any reps that you don't trust. If you are a member in good standing then your MEC does represent the integrity of your word as a bargaining agent. When I look back at the "process" that pulled your JNC negotiators in violation of a promise that your group signed then I don't believe that a rouge group of MEC officers have seized control of their constituency. I believe there was support from the group as a whole to back out of their promise.

By that "logic" then from Bush on down..every elected official that you've any vote regarding, is fully representing "your word" and you're completely responsible for their actions...I see.

So...in conlusion: Every single east pilot's responsible for Alpo, and it's OK to "never" scab..unless of course one just feels like it against a given group...and neither the "manifest responsibility" fantasized above nor the scabbing threat's the least bit indicative of flawed, if not fatally broken notions of "honor" and "integrity", much less an utter lacking of actual logic and thought process at any level.

Against my apparent fantasy that some discussion might eventually help start closing the vast chasm between the two groups, it seems that my contemporaries are correct after all. I've completely wasted my time here. There's really no actual point in further conversational attempts with you people.
