Fellow US Airways Pilots,

I have a letter in my hand from Chris Beebe, Vice President-Finance / Treasurer of ALPA national explaining to me the intricacies of dues obligations by various methods. My message is not critical of Vice President Beebe or his office; it is only to remind the US Airways pilots of their dues obligations and how easy it is to get behind.

Many of our pilots elected to, “send a messageâ€, to Herndon this summer and they did so by going off dues check-off. If a pilot ops to go on a pay as you go basis, there are additional charges and an estimate of annual dues is required. To paraphrase the first line of this letter; “Article IX, Section 3B of the Associations’ Constitution and By-Laws, directs that the Vice President –Finance shall furnish each Active Executive Active and Executive Inactive member not participating in a dues payroll withholding with an estimated annual dues billing.â€

As a result of these complicated dues and billing issues many of those pilots may in fact be in bad standing but are unaware of this. To determine your current ALPA dues standing USAPA recommends the following.

(1) Go to ALPA.org

(2) Find the red members only clickable object in the top center row menu bar and click on it.

(3) Enter your member name and password, and click enter.

(4) Once on the members only page click on My ALPA and you will see your membership standing.

USAPA is about greater democracy and accountability. In order for you to express your voice politically to both ALPA and USAPA you must remain dues current with ALPA. USAPA has reason to believe that a contract Tentative Agreement may come out prior to the NMB vote on the status of USAPA vs. ALPA.

Remember if a contract is ratified with the Nicolau award intact it will stay for the duration of that contract and can only be addressed in the next bargaining round. If you do not want this outcome you must be able to vote NO on a TA. In order to vote NO you must be dues current with ALPA. If you are not currently on dues check-off USAPA recommends you go back on.

I personally went off dues check-off in June and returned to dues check-off at the end of July. Despite repeated calls, emails and US mail there has been no direct response from ALPA Membership Services to repeated questions about this account. We hear stories of computer glitches, maternity leave and other problems with staffing. We are rather suspicious that the largest pilot union on planet earth cannot maintain adequate records of dues and assessments and cannot answer routine billing questions. We request that every pilot who wants a chance to vote on his future, pursue the question of his dues status immediately and seek to maintain dues currency with the current bargaining agent.

There will be a variety of speakers in attendance - regarding insurance and medical will be the principles of Empowered Benefits and representatives of Harvey Watt. Capt. Peter Lambrou, MD will address Aeromedical issues. Mr. Lee Seham, USAPA's lead counsel, will be available to answer your questions. USAPA's officers and volunteers will also be on hand. PowerPoint presentations will run throughout the day providing information on structure and services. Logo items and handouts on a number of important topics will be available. Please stop by and meet these individuals between the hours of 0900-1700. They will be more than happy to answer any of your questions. The Road Show will take place in the CLT Airport Business Center, top of the stairs to the left above the Food Court, Auditorium 4026.

Item 2) Since the National Mediation Board (NMB) has determined that East and West are operating as a single carrier, they will request a list of all US Airways pilots and their addresses. The NMB will use the address that US Airways has on file to send balloting information to eligible pilots when a representation election is called. Please make sure that the Company has your current address as soon as possible to ensure your ability to vote in a possible upcoming election. Change of address forms are available in the crew room, Chief Pilot Offices, and online at http://thehub.usairways.com

Item 3) If you are in Bad Standing with ALPA, you will not be able to vote if a TA is presented to the pilot group. Don't let others control your future! Please click here to read important information on this subject.

Now as with the business you can be honest with me, I read Lee's letter to the NMB and and if they allow you to pull what he suggests then you may have a shot but I am betting that they will not allow it and this drive will end here soon. I give you guys credit though as you really put the fear in herndon but it's unfortunate that we the pilots all lost out as a result by wasting time and not getting a contract when we could. I hope you now realize that the DAL & NWA merger along with the UAL & CAL get together spells the end of USAir as we just don't have the size to compete with the likes of those combo's or AA. It was a good run though.

So....you AWA guys think we're scabs, huh? Think we're in bed with the Lorenzo types, huh? I'll tell you what, I know Steve and he is one of the finest guys you'll ever meet. I think that the disqusting associations your "video" man does hurts your chances to keep ALPA and helps us to get USAPA even more. Well then why don't you just slit your throat now and get it over with? You sound like you would be a really good job candidate for another airline. I know I would hire you with an attitude like that. Actually, it sounds like you work for the other guys already since your banking on our failure. You are depressed and really need some help. I would strongly suggest you take some serious time off and contemplate your "what's left of your miserable life" woe is me attitude.

Everyone thinks your a whiner anyway. I don't feel sorry for you, I pity you. Oh, by the way, it doesn't matter WHAT happens in Herndon, if you think we're going to vote for anything ALPA comes up with, you better think again.

Here is MY prediction....Prater put the FEAR OF GOD into both MEC's...if they do not come to a COMPLETE understanding in the 10 day BRC that WILL get the East pilots to vote yes, meaning NO NICOLAU, he WILL put BOTH MEC's into trusteeship and impose the NATIONAL version of THEIR idea of the award. PERIOD.

Why are you always so violent? I have never ever wished death on you or any from the clown gallery (usapa) for that matter. I don't care one bit what you want or what you folks will vote for. I worked for AWA while you were on the streets dreaming about another major job and now you and your band of merry men think you are ENTITLED to my position besed soley on the fact that you were hired at a failed company first?? You would be throwing wood for home depot without this transaction so you really need to get a grip and fast. You ain't never ever for as long as you live going to see date of hire YOUR STAPLE JOB in this tranaction EVER!! Get that out of your head and you'll live longer.

Prater can't do a dam thing right so I doubt that he will will put ALPA in harms way of a mega law suit from us by imposing anything other than the NIC award as written..

I think you need to get your money back from your lawyer. His letter to the NMB and actions I predict will fail and your usapa drive will be over before you know it. Prater will then place THE EAST mec in trusteeship before you can do anymore damage and so that the company can try to make themselves a merger candidate. So lets see who will be right...

BTW you need to do something about your anger, may I suggest therpy?
