Why don't you ask Bradford and company? The fact that you don't have access to these documents via East channels, whether it's usapa or the East MEC, proves that nothing has changed or will change with usap - tell the troops what they want to hear but make them get bad news elsewhere. I've got both documents but you'll have to get them via your channels. What I will do is sum up your situation by telling you this: next time you guys should get a better lawyer, assuming a competent attorney would take your organization as a client. If your guy can't even handle a straight forward card collection process, then you should be doubting anything and everything that he does professionally.

As far as the USAPA meeting yesterday, it was nothing short of very well put together. It was a great information roadshow.

When USAPA gets voted in I hope you will be able to get YOUR donations in line for your lawsuit. The $300,000 in merger money STAYS WITH ALPA, FYI. Company submitted the excel list 24 hours after the NMB requested it. Number of total pilots roughly 5,200. Looks like they want to see USAPA get in and get this crap over with.

We have the cards, well have the election and after yesterday, well get the vote. Especially with the "forward" progress the BRC made for the last 10 days. USAPA support is stronger than it has ever been.

We vote, you sue.

I did, its a non event. We already have the replacement cards filed. So it's not news at all. But thanks for the opinion.

Good try blaming the attorneys. That was a clerical error only. So as far as anything is concerned with Seham and Co. they are still doing and will continue to do a good job.

This is the USAPA phone message for Saturday, February 9th, 2008.

In our continuing effort to bring your union to you, USAPA held our second Road Show, this one yesterday, February 8th at the CLT Airport Business Center.

There were a wide variety of speakers in attendance; the principles of Empowered Benefits and President of Harvey Watt gave detailed descriptions of the types of insurance and benefits that will be available to US Airways pilots. Capt. Peter Lambrou, MD addressed Aeromedical issues and the types of Aeromedical programs under consideration; Harvey Watt & Co. gave a presentation on their Aeromedical structure. USAPA President Stephen Bradford pointed out that, unlike ALPA, insurance and Aeromedical will be available to members and non-members alike, and will be fully portable. Captain Steve Szpyrka discussed his experience with ALPA Aeromedical. Mr. Lee Seham, USAPA's lead counsel, answered many questions posed by the pilots. USAPA Secretary/Treasurer Mark King gave a Treasurer's report, detailing the fantastic financial support that continues to flow in from the pilot group. Throughout the remainder of the day, USAPA attorneys, officers and volunteers responded to a wide variety of questions and concerns from the pilots. PowerPoint presentations ran throughout the day providing information on structure and services. Logo items and handouts on a number of important topics were available.

Turnout was fantastic, with upwards of 100 pilots in attendance at any given time, a total of several hundred attending throughout the day with many pilots taking time between flights to drop in and listen to the proceedings. For the benefit of those unable to attend this Road Show, like the PHL Road Show, it was professionally video-taped. As we did with the PHL videos, the video will be broken into segments by subject, so that you may watch those of interest to you. Videos from this show will be added to the Road Show page as soon as they are available. Also, we are in the process of creating DVDs of both Road Shows.

We are tentatively considering the last week of February for the next Road Show, which will be held in PHX. As your USAPA Officers and volunteers are still required to fly full schedules, the exact timing of the Road Show has yet to be determined.

In other news, the NMB received the Company's version of the Eligible List yesterday, and has (as required) provided the list to USAPA as well. We are examining the list for accuracy. We anticipate that the NMB will issue a Finding of Dispute late in the coming week; the ballots could issue in as little as 3 to 4 weeks with the vote count 30 days after. So... based upon what we know, estimated election date could be around the 7th to 14th of March, with a count 30 days later. All timings are estimated and ultimately determined by the NMB.

This joint statement from the East and West Steering Committees was released today:

The East and West Steering Committees met at a neutral location for ten days to explore consensual solutions to our respective needs. The talks were cordial, and each side now has a clearer understanding of each other's issues. Talks concluded on Thursday afternoon. At this time, no further meetings are scheduled, but talks may resume at a later date."

"This is MEC Chairman Jack Stephan with a chairman’s message to the pilots for Friday, February 08, 2008.

After nine days of talks between the US Airways and America West Steering Committees, the America West contingent has chosen to stand down talks. At this time they are not prepared to address seniority implementation issues, specifically, mitigating the damages caused by the Nicolau Award.

Recall that we met to determine if we had enough common ground between us on important issues to come up with a comprehensive counterproposal for both MECs to review. As we told you, this counterproposal would have to adequately address not only all open JNC issues, but more importantly for the AAA pilots, pay parity and seniority protection. We came to the neutral site at Wye River, MD with these goals in mind, and within these goals we developed certain thresholds needing to be achieved for the benefit of the US Airways pilots. Despite what you may have heard or read, none of that changed during the meeting."

...."the America West contingent has chosen to stand down talks"....Perhaps assuming a projected cram-down "rescue" by the mighty Prater? or just indicating an utter disconnect from all aspects of reality?

It seems that an amazing amount of fiddling's taking place while Alpa/Rome burns 😉

Well..at least Alpa's making great forward strides and amazing progress. :blink: Heck, leave it to them, and an industry-leading and mutually acceptable "Great Contract" should be rolling off the presses any second now. 🙄

Council 90 UPDATE

Fellow Pilots,

There will be an informational briefing this Wednesday, February 13 in CLT in the conference room behind the Business Center on the main floor of the food court. We will be there from 10:00 am until 4:00 pm. The format will be the same as the first briefing and everybody will have a chance to ask questions and get answers.

There will be several folks attending this meeting you might like to speak with. There will be pilots from FedEx and Continental who have been through a decertification before. We will have Chris Beebe, ALPA’s Treasurer. Also we will have John Sluys, who is an Alaska Airlines pilot and member of the Executive Council

This is your union and you can do with it as you see fit. We would like to encourage you to avail yourselves of all the information about this representational dispute prior to casting a ballot.

We will also be hosting another informational briefing on Thursday, February 21. Look for information about that event in another council letter.

Fellow Pilots,

Due to the positive response we have gotten from the informational briefs, we will be holding another Informational Briefing on Thursday, February 21 in the CLT airport. This meeting will be from 10:00 am until 3:00 pm in the conference room behind the Charlotte Business Center.

Then, in the evening, we will be hosting another briefing at the Charlotte Marriott Executive Park at 5700 Westpark Drive from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm. This hotel is south of Tyvola Road and east of I-77 just south of the Chili’s restaurant. This part of the brief will be open to spouses/significant others so they can have an opportunity to ask questions, too. The decision to change your union representation will impact your family, so we wanted to have an event where your spouse/significant other could attend. You can come and meet your elected leaders as well as pilot volunteers. Food and beverages will be provided.

We want to make sure you have access to as much information as you need to help you make a decision.
