APFA Constitution referendum results

Looks like everything I voted for passed. I just wish that they had another resolution to vote on. I think to be a Chair, V-Chair, OCR or any union paid position, that you need to be active. I think it is a disgrace that those that are furloughed, on leaves or whatever inactive status continue to hold paid union positions. Just my opinion. We have already seen that the positions can be taken advantage of, I wish the APFA tried to stop it.

There was no reason to raise our dues, if more people were going to be responsible to pay them. Either way APFA gets more dues money. Some will come from those that want to vote and use the benefits APFA provides and some will come from leins on their houses and from collection services. Either way, APFA wins. The really sad part about this is that it never had to be this way. For some reason the TWA work force demanded unreasonable concessions from APFA F/A's starting 4-10-01 and continue today. Problem is that they don't like the push back from the APFA F/A's. You reap the "rewards" that you deserve. It's too bad so many people's jobs are continually put at risk by so few of their former co-workers and continue to be put at risk by those who no longer work here. It is extremely sad that the TWA F/A leadership was so adversarial from the begining and continues to be. It could have been so different. It should be time for those wasting time on fruitless fights to start worrying about those that are going to lose recall rights by this time next year. I think there are 2 different groups. One this November and one at the begining of January 2011.

It is illegal to single out or target one group for harm. This provision was tried before but all resolutions were lumped together and went down to "no". As is so popular with the APFA, if you don't get the wanted result, either extend the ballot or vote it again. I will be interested to hear how many ballots arrived "late" as many did not receive ballots and had to request replacements. 6500 voters is hardly a membership mandate. If I were the APFA I would be very concerned.

And by the way, base budgets for bases with significant numbers of furloughed are/have been cut. So much for ALL of that money being used on furloughees. The APFA couldn't even challenge the lack of WARN ACT notice. Not to worry...

We are so on the same page.... Why would APFA support and represent all these people that hate the union. They never wore their union pins , dogged APFA every chance they got. Anything the union did was never good enough.
This was so necessay and a good ending.....
The union is legally obligated to fairly represent the interests of all who are covered by the collective bargaining agreement. Have it your way. When the DOL makes a finding that there is a violation of DFR, the sanction will decertification. Fine by us.

7,177 people voted on Resolution #1. All 5 resolutions garnered at least 7129 total votes. I also wish more people would vote, but it is their choice to not vote. Regarding the WARN notice, what was APFA going to dispute? Nothing, AA followed the rules. As I remember, individual F/A's challenged it with the NY DOL. What came of it? Did AA do anything wrong? Nope.

Without hope, you have nothing.

AA did not follow the rules. Furlough notices were sent to 256 fa's based in New York. The New York WARN act requires a 90 days notice when more than 250 are subject to lay offs.
The NY DOL is investigating the matter.
Coming to think of it, this is another DFR violation. Keep them coming.

Dude, let it go...... There is nothing here that has been done illegally. Do you really think that AA would make this kind of mistake. This company is always one step ahead. Of course if you file a report the DOL has to "look" into it. The end result will be AA was correct. Hasn't that been the case in every lawsuit brought forth????

Let me contemplate the choices. On the one hand I can pay out of my meager unemployment checks housing, heat, lights, food, clothing to keep my young family safe and sound or I can pay $41 dollars a month to a despicable so called labor organization that has never done anything except screw me practically to death. Tough call.

Yeah PAY YOUR DUES and you'll be represented. No more free bees...

Even those with the deepest pockets eventually will make a mistake. They have never had anyone challenge what they do and certainly not when the APFa is in collusion on so many issues. The outcome is yet to be decided.

Well lets see .... Maybe it's time to close this chapter in your life and move on ???
That's how I see it....

Just mailed my letter to the APFA, and to pay comp requesting all union dues out of my paycheck cease immediately. If the company needs someone to cross the picket line, please just let me know..I am ready to go. I no longer belong to a union.
Nancy, Please pm me with the information on joining the coalition. I myself, and others would be very interested in what it takes git rid of the APFA.

I almost feel like I'm listening (reading) to a company spokesman here.
