What's new

Back To The New Uniform Thing.

Important distinction: The new U is billing itself as the world's largest LOW COST carrier, not necessarily the same as world's largest low FARE carrier.

Uh, I disagree...read the signs--low FARE carrier--LCC is only the stock symbol

Definetely agree! I hate the "NO TIE" look on Men and I don't care if it's a summer look! It looks stupid wearing the uniforms with eppaulets and no tie. US West Uniform Committee....are you listening????

One problem is is many of our f/a's do not wear the uniform as they should. Some walk around in their housecoat (the dress) with what looks like bedroom slippers (their idea of shoes). I do understand wanting to be comfortable, but there is no need to look sloppy.

If you ever want to be embarrassed, fly transatlantic. Walking around LGW or FRA will make you feel like the "blue light special" at Kmart. Other airlines from all around the world operate out of those two airports and you see how professional and put together they look.

I too would like a new uniform and I'm all about change. But please don't pick out something too casual or trendy. The chances are if we do get a new uniform it won't change again for a long, long, long time. So we need something classy and timeless.

look at Virgin. Nothing like the "sea of red" in a hotel lobby after they arrive from a long flight. They are all well put together even after a long flight and look as hot as they did when they got on the plane

Exactly! I'm tired of the basic Navy Blue.....Our Uniforms definetely needs some color!!!

We should have optional items! We need uniforms that would make us stand out.

You guys get way to hung up on the whole "international carrier" thing. So, because we fly 15 flights to Europe we have to sacrifice comfort for international flare? please.

No one is going to pick an airline because of the uniform that a crew member wears. They will fly with us based on price and service.

And to the person that thinks that Donna, Ralph or Calvin are going to design our new uniforms I have a an ocean front lot to sell you in Tempe. lol You will be lukcy to get Martha or Jaclyn to stop desiging for K-mart for 5 minutes to put together something for US. lol

Obviously we have two camps here. One wants to be comfortable at all costs, and feel as if they are at at home while they are at work, whereas the other wants to be able to take pride in thier position and feel like a crewmember. Hopefully a balance can be found.

I always took alot of pride in my uniform whether working or non-revving. I'm a believer in the whole "reprresenting yourself and your company" thing. I'm pretty casual on my off time, but while I'm playing the role of a professional flight attendant, looking the part helps me do a better job. Ties, heels, and tailored suits don't strike me as uncomfortable, but then again I grew up wearing school uniforms and such.

There are plenty of professions that are non-uniformed and many pay much more than flight attending. There are also jobs that have casual uniforms because of the nature of the work. If people need to be so casual and "comfy", maybe they should look into those jobs. Wal-Mart wears a loose-fitting smock, and most 7-11s have polo shirts.

The current uniform can look surprisingly good when worn correctly. Check out the majority of the E170 F/As- I don't know if they collectively decided on it or hold each other accountable or what but they look great.

So are you saying that you can't be comfortable and professional? Why couldn't a new uniform be more of a dress pant / skirt and a polo shirt in the summer and a long sleeve button down with company emblem for winter? Professionalism is not always masked by appearance, true professionalism is made by attitude and demeanor.

what, an iron-on decal? yikes.

what do people mean by a polo shirt? is it a pullover cotton shirt?

maybe the uniforms should match the airline's colors--White suit, with blue and red ties or White skirt and jacket with blue and red scarves--now that would say LCC!!!

biz casual isn't bad, but cotton pants are too casual i think

barbeetantrums, you don't need a uniform to make you look like a hottie--you are already there--it's all in the attitude

not an iron on.....the embroidered logo.

yes - a polo shirt is a cotton pull over with a collar.

White uniforms....like in Saturday Night Fever? lol White with the blue shirts. lol
