CLP procedures

With the amount of experience that most station agents had doing W&B, we could get the A/C balanced as well as anybody. I could tell by the trim how well the A/C was in balance, and knew how to load it to achieve that point. When I first started with PI, our station handled CO along with their W&B. Part of their training included a video that went into great detail about the C.G. and it's effect on fuel burn etc. All of this was based on the 727, but could be applied to most other A/C.

Jim,

Supposedly, the CLP program was designed to move the weight aft so the plane would fly in the most efficient attitude with little to no trim (less drag).

From what I saw after CLP, the Boeing trims remained around 5.0, same as in the 101 days.

I concur on the savings - it seem to me that kind of calculus comes into play when a flight is at cruise altitude more than 10 minutes!

But on paper, it saves millions of dollars.
