What's new

CLT getting 2 new routes?

Mesa CRJ-900s?! I'll take a connection through DFW thank you very much! I don't like the -900 and refuse to fly Mesa.
Bite me...oh wait I don't even work for Mesa anymore...Bite them! I agree...I hate their bleep -900s...now the Dash 8s aren't too bad.

Why doesn't US take on WN head to head from PHL instead of pussyfoot around from CLT? What a Joke US is.

I think this could be upgraded to mainline service when more aircraft are delivered. You never know!!! I am glad to see SAT and AUS starting out of CLT. It blows that its on Mesa thought, Republic would have been cool thought. Those 170 and 175 are pretty comfortable. Honestly to me the seats on the 170 and 175 are more comfortable that a coach seat on the A330. Speaking of Mesa and Republic, does anyone know when they are going to swap concourses in CLT? Mesa is supposed to be going back to E Con and Republic is to come up to C Con.

Could your more accepting attitude toward regionals-flying-mainine-aircraft-and-routes have anything to do with, Oh, the fact that you work for Republic? 🙄

Wrong, I was simply commenting on how I'd prefer a 170/175 to a CR9. 😉

I think we'll see these flights upgraded at some point, but with the mainline fleet count remaining stagnant this year, it may have to wait a little while. I believe the express fleet count is remaining constant too, though someone may be able to correct me on that.

Jetguy, I've heard that they're waiting until the extension to E concourse opens to make the switch, but I'm not quite sure when that'll be. Maybe someone else has some more info??

Earlier tonight I was told that it would be open this week.

Whereas it is ALWAYS Good News to start new routes what amazes me is how Marketing continues to drop the ball with some of their decisions. Adding SAT and AUS are prime examples. Instead of utilizing a Boeing/Airbus/E170-190 on these routes (approx flying time of 2-2.5 hours) they will insist on using an A319 on a segment like DCA-BDL with 16 people onboard. I did a trip recently with 3 days of flying this route and with pax loads NEVER over 30....irregardless of the time of day. THIS flight belongs on a regional jet since loads don't justify a larger a/c. Those Canadair-700 and-900s are some of the most uncomfortable planes that ever graced the skies and I for one AVOID any flight on them over 1hour. The E170/175 and 190s are great airplanes and would be more suitable for new longer stage flights like this, "IF" pax comfort is even contemplated. It is great to see YVR added out of PHL but why didn't they include PHL-SAT/AUS even as a thru flight? There are so many missed opportunities that the clowns in Marketing continue to make.......MSY (to PHX and LAS, and LGA), TUS to the East etc. Many will argue that we don't have the a/c..........BS! We just use them incorrectly. When an airline has 9 Regional partners- let THEM do The REGIONAL Flying, not the Mainline. A flight over 1 hour isn't REGIONAL.......it can be PURE TORTURE for everyone involved.

Inspectors are due in tonight, ramp may be operational tomorrow, temp leadin lines are down, old lines are to be removed as soon as US gives the order....

hopefully never, No One on E con is looking foward to mesa coming back over there.

Even though the service to AUS would make me getting home easier I will probly still use DL or WN to get home when I can't use us. I would shoot myself if i flew that long on mesa.

ASTRO...you are absolutely correct. There are so many routes we fly bigger jets that don't justify the a/c type on the route. Why we put that cr9 on ANYTHING above 1.5 hours is beyond me. Do a E-190 trip and see how many super short hops that are half full. That plane could be put on bigger routes and let the air whiskey people do the short hops. I'm surprised we don't have airbus 319's on PHL-AVP or PHL-ABE.

The only reason is that they would have to be committed to 27/9's for A319 Ops. 35/17 and 26/10 can handle the RJ's or the Dash Ocho's. Mine as well do PHL-RDG flights. I keep hoping.

The rest of E Concourse opened up Wednesday Afternoon. At least at some point soon Mesa will be coming back to them and Republic will come up to mainline. EN Management was all over the newly opened gates E27 thought E32. I am not sure if its fully operational yet but they had some flights down there this morning. Funny thing they don't even have the stalls up in the mensroom yet!!!
