freedom, at the wholly owneds the policy is if you want your own room, you must pay for it. Otherwise you are assigned a room mate; and it is random. They sometimes try to pair people with same age and then same territory. Some get lucky and aren't given a room mate. The other interesting thing about training is you are not allowed to have family or bf/gf stay the night with you in your room. I know of many cases where they have fired people over that one.
NevadaHP: this company will change the HP policy of not paying for hotels during training. Once everything is merged, the company will probably offer hotel ONLY for non-residents of phoenix or wherever training is. And almost *every* airline out there BUT HP paid for hotel during training. That was one provision you guys really got shafted on. Even lil ole PSA and Piedmont pay for hotels for training - be it new hire or recurrent.
