Ken, the question should be " Why doesn't the International run the union according to Ken McTiernan". Then we'd all be better people.

drippy, why do you mock yourself? Why can't you answer the question?

Run the international the way I want it to run? You mean the DEMOCRATIC way? Where all twu international positions are elected by the full membership? I agree. This would not make us all "better people" but it would make us better prepared to protect our proud craft & profession.

Will I see your proud butt in DC on Tuesday? The only way to protect our profession is to act, and act now pal. You need to put this "my union is better than your union" BS on the shelf for a mike and get to dealing with reality.

Nahhh..that would be the union way to do it....you'd never agree...HAHAHA!!!

Well there goes another typical narrow minded answer.

So drippy what is wrong with allowing the members to pick their own leaders? You know not all unions are as undemocratic as the TWU.

How will I recognize you drippy? Will all twu supporting alias using cowards be concentrated on one street corner?

It is not "BS" when I state with proof that AMFA is better than the twu, ibt, or iam when it comes to protecting our craft & profesion. It is, as you say, simply "dealing with reality".

You offer to attend on Tuesday? Where were you when AMFA sponsored a rally against FAR 145 in Washington? Where were you when AMFA picketed the White House?

By your standing in front of a twu towed coffin in Tulsa doesn't qualify as acting.

I would like to thank Jim Atkinson for his precedent setting example of how to screw his members out of their pensions. NWA has never before asked for our pensions back until Jim Atkinson wrote a letter to the company and our members suggesting that we switch our pensions to a defined benefit plan....like a 401. So now instead of getting a company paid pension and a 401 K like we have today, we'll just get a 401K with a 1% match. How many years will that 1% take to add up to the 85 dollars per month per year of service pension that I have? Did AMFA know when they negotiated the last contract that they'd be giving our pension away this time? I suspect they were in bed with the company from the beginning. Asskissin, you're such a loser, Fettig craps bigger than you! Loser!

AMFA now wants to allow the company to farm out all HMV's overseas. We are doomed. I hear Timco will take over line maintenance at up to fifteen stations. Butterfield must be feeling great about what he is about to accomplish.

TWU and Jim Little now wants to allow AA to convert your defined pension plan into a 401K match plan. We are doomed. I hear TWU elected officials will be allowed to keep their defined plan. Jim Little must be feeling great about what he is about to accomplish.

In additon, the job security date will be moved back to 1995.

I fear its going to be much worse than that, this round of layoff's for management was just a precursor for whats about to happen to labor......BOHICA :mf_boff:

AMFA not a union? Why do you say that? Because they dont give the company everything they want like the TWU?

If AMFA is not a union then how come Local 514 has been putting members in bad standing, under the charge of dual unionism for supporting AMFA for years?

I think a more accurate statement is that the TWU is not a union, we just have to pay dues. Unions do not give companies "more than adequate concessions"(Jim Littles words).

As organizations like the TWU continue to sell out the members we will eventually see the end of company provided pensions. Of course our union leaders will still get their dues funded generous pension plans as shown on the 5500 Forms that are available from the Dept of Labor. As we see the change from defined benifit, to limited employer matched cash balance, because of the need to compete, the next step is no plan for the same reason.

As I recall back in the late 90s the AA pension plan was actually generating revenue for the company and the company did not have to contribute anything for a number of years.

By the way, according the 5500 filings TWU International officers are given an annual compounded raise every year of 5%. Compare that to the occasional 1.5% they negotiate for us!

Appendix A-Statement of Actuarial Assumptions and Methods

Compensation Increases

Future compensation will increase at the rate of 5.00% per year, compounded annually

While it may suck to be a TWU member it sure does pay to be a TWU International employee! I guess all that embezzeled money and the lack of morality they obviously have make it easy for them to sleep at night.

So over the 5 year period of our contract, while we as working people paying dues to a union, will see our pay rates only brought back 7%, before inflation, retired TWU officials will see their retirement checks increase by 25%!!!! Isnt it something how retired TWU officials see more than triple the increases that TWU members see?

Now you know why the Presidents you voted into office are so desperate and willing to sell you out in order to get one of those coveted International spots!

Now you know why the TWU must keep the dues rate flowing!

BUT AFTER YOU LOOKED AT IT UPS GOT LOTS OF MONEY PER HOUR BUT NOT BENNIES,,,,,NO SICK TIME,,,NOT MUCH VACATION,,,THEY BOUGHT THEIR OWN Hospitalization,,, VERY FEW HOLIDAYS,,,THEY WERE JUST LIKE CONTRACT MECHS.... IF YOU LINE GUYS KEEP UP YOUR BULLSHIT, AND WANT TO GET RID OF THE HANGAR MECHS ,,,,YOU WELL BECOME CONTRACT EMPLOYEES OF NWA....AND IF THERE IS EVER A CUT BACK YOU WILL BE OUT ON THE STREET AND UNABLE TO BUMP ANYWHERE. YOU BETTER START THINKING ABOUT JOBS [YOUR OWN] RATHER THAN HOW MUCH YOU ARE GOING TO MAKE IF,,,IF,,,YOU ARE STILL WORKING.
