Flight Attendant Seniority List

However, there is significant east pilot resolve to not obtain a new joint contract. Thus, if there is no joint contract the two companies cannot be operationally combined and management will not obtain the final merger cost and revenue synergies.

If the East does not agree to a combined contract does this remove them from negotiating completely(keeping them in current contract for duration of current contract @ 2012)? How can you not negotiate? Keep things how they are currently? What happens if F/As agree not to stay w/ front end crew? How would this affect the back end?

The ALPA seniority list ruling will have no impact on other labor group integrations.

If ALPA East takes this action then management will have less motivation to reach combined contracts with the other labor groups, which could mean no pay raises for the other unions.

Oh here we go...

In YOUR opinion of course...right Captain?

Who's to say that if this is the stance and action taken by East pilots, that management wouldn't be more motivated to reach combined contracts with other labor groups? After all, it plays right into management's game of "divide and conquer the labor groups so they start blaming each other" for not accomplishing the goal of completing the merger by combining the labor groups and thereby removing the blame from where it rightfully should be...on management!

Make no mistake, I think the arbitrator's decision on the combined pilot seniority list is setting a new precedent on how NOT to handle a merged seniority...

...but it's just so predictable for you to come here and spread the doom and gloom to the other labor groups, because yours has been wronged.

Doogie has repeatedly said at many town hall meetings with pilots that he does not "need" a combined contract for the pilots. He places a number of $10 million per year in synergy savings for a single pilot contract...IOW, chickenfeed.

Now we will see if that $10 million number is just posturing, or not, because it looks like the east pilots are ready to live out LOA 93 for the foreseeable future in order to keep the seniority lists separated.

Doogie cannot utilize the merged list until there is a merged contract.

No contract, seniority remains as it is. Meantime, since the east contract is not even amendable until 2009, all of the east attrition will go to east pilots no matter what Nicolau decreed. And Doogie is not likely to move any flying to the westies because they are more expensive than the easties.

It's going to be very ugly around here unless someone comes up with a very novel approach to ameliorate the Nicolau disgrace.

Well I know per AFA bilaws it is suppose to be date of hire, but so were the ALPA bilaws and look what happened there.

Is date of hire for FA a done deal, like no more talks happening on this topic and all parties agreed.

People, this was settled long ago!!!

Talk about shitstirring... AFA was and is DOH, has never not been. HP AFA cried about it after the fact, understandably, they had to put on a show for thier membership. AFA National laughed at the idea and never considered changing the long standing, agreed upon policy for a moment. What on earth does the pilot arbitration have to do with AFA? Nothing. Just looking for a fight or really just stupid and uniformed about how things work?

Get used to DOH. Everyone else did. You too, will be assimilated and look back on your little regional airline and exaggerate about how great it was and what a family and the service was smashing just like everyone else at US does. But you will have your seniority, in fact its the only thing you'll ever have. And when we merge again, which will happen, US (US+HP) will be the smaller guy... but you'll have your seniority (or lack of in some cases) if they are an AFA carrier.

Just to review for the uniformed-
AA- APFA. Stapled TWA to the bottom, to be furloughed.
UA- AFA
DL- No union
NW- AFA
CO- Teamsters

And it took a strike vote and an withdraw of a change of control grievance to get what little CWA has now!
With little help from one pilot personal attack in the media

Final Transition Agreement is reached between US Airways and The Airline Customer Service Employee Association- IBT AND CWA

June 1, 2006
CWA

A final agreement was reached today, June 1st, to bring the former America West Passenger Service Employees under the existing CWA Contract covering the US Airways Passenger Service Employees. The Association leaders, made up of CWA Presidents and Local Representatives and Staff and IBT Bargaining Representatives and Staff worked many months to achieve this goal. The final agreement will greatly improve the pay, benefits and working conditions of our fellow brothers and sisters at America West, who were organized by the IBT shortly before the merger between US Airways and America West was announced. At the same time, the agreement continues to protect the rights under our contract for the CWA members at US Airways. The two Unions formed the Association, a unique and creative alternative to having a run-off election. The two Unions formed a strong and cooperative team to reach the goal of protecting the current contract language for the US Airways workers and providing the same protection for the America West workers under the same language in a timely manner.
