clt is the worst when it comes to customs for crews.

Are CLT crews scheduled to arrive in the late Int'l arrival bank usually on the last trip of their pairing, or are they usually heading for another flight? If it is another flight I could see where they are having a real big problem in CLT, especially if the crews are saying to the customers "no, you go first."

And don't forget, crews spend a total of around :45 mins. at their Carribean destination. No need for the rubber gloves and vasoline. It is expected behavior, especially from government employees with high pay and a fully funded pension after a mere 20 years on the public dole.

Or perhaps a lesson in understanding how it feels to be a customer?

When I was invited "Behind the Curtain" in PHL by CCY I gained a much deeper appreciation for what the employees have had to endure.

Part of the reason I do post here is to help employees and customers gain that understanding so maybe we can make each others lives a little more pleasant. Tempe makes that difficult but hey life isn't easy
So you think it is Customs responsibility to teach us how it feels to be a passenger? I thought your fight was against the mgmt team that is dumbing down our product, not against the front line employees you claim to be routing for?

I treat passengers with respect and care every day I go to work, no questions asked. Believe me, I know how bad things are for passengers, I see it every day. What lessons do i need to be taught?

Well you might not need to be taught any lessons. HOWEVER there are a few who do need a refresher course.
Why should USAirways employees be taught lessons on how the INS (or whatever federal agency is in charge of customs and immigration checkpoints at airports) treats its "customers"?

I'm not seeing the link you are trying to make here. It is USAirway's fault there are long lines at C&I?

Should USAirways employees stand in line with you at the supermarket on your way home from the airport too, so they know what it's like to be a customer there also?

🙄

If it's at the end of a trip I go first, if connecting during a trip- customer goes first... 😉
Fly safe, follow the FOM, Family First...

There is a line that all crews must go thru as the dec papers have to be in one line. It just depends on the person sending customers to open positions. There may be one or two customers in that line, but the crews have never had to wait behind ALL the customers from all flights coming in. Someone is exaggerating.

LCC_#1--- just to clear what I meant by standing in PAX line----not at the initial customs checkin---crews still have the crew line thankgoodness---but in the final line beyond PAX bag claims area---thats where the luggage checking machine is ----random PAX & bags go through here---ALL crewmembers go through---saw at least one F/A bag with a 100$ apple in it and a not to happy F/A. They do give you one last chance to cough up the fruit etc etc before your bag goes in machine.

Gotcha! Yeah that s pain, but I havent seen it as a problem. If the crews would stop giving these people reasons, they would back off.

well, well well......how suddenly the FACTS get told. If there is a sign or an announcement to dispose of "banned" items and ANYONE (customer or crew) decides to play the odds, they SHOULD get fined- and IF it is a crew member (who knows the regulation) they need to be slapped with a double fine for Sheer STUPIDITY. I have no sympathy for these people that disregard the rules.

Also one last bit of info concerning the great prices of "spirits" we get while on island trips---FOM says forbidden now--thats as of 11/06/06---YIKES

On asking couple questions on the island "spirits" forbidden as of 11/06 on person while on company property--was told the actions of a few folks resulted in this rule.

Does this mean the crews are smuggling?

Could you be more specific? What actions?

How about a management published clarification if there is a misunderstanding about what is and is not allowed?
