GOLDHOFER

Well as we approach 2 months of having our DFW Goldhofer drivers being held out of service, the company and goldhofer decided to re-enact the accident today. I guess they should of listened to to all of us because after putting only 70, 000 lbs of fuel on a 777, and only getting up to 15 mph, the goldhofer rep and reportedly an AA supervisor attempted to stop the aircraft in a short distance. The short version has EMT's on the scene, both windshields smashed out, someones head being smashed into the radios, along with extensive damage to the tug, and possibly the aircraft. Really, I'm not making this sh*t up. <_< They both went to the hospital with their injuries. Should be able to post some pictures later on tonight of the scene. Why can't they just listen to the pros who drove these things?

Here ya go Amfa man!!! I am told the goldhofer rep and the big wig from tulsa training were cut up pretty bad. First and foremost I hope they are going to be fine. And as said from one of the guys still out of work from this incident "It is too bad that someone else had to get hurt before the company would believe us, the aircraft mechanics that drive it everyday. Or as the Silver bullet said those mechanics are liars they just don't want to drive it!!!

Nice picture, maybe now maybe the AA spokeperson can retract his statement that was broadcast on the news several times stating the original accident was operator error. <_<

If the company had not been so set on blaming it on the mechanics and not putting the blame where it belonged, on the company program that was not researched enough. Does anyone know who the supervisor was that was injured. Ask Gary about busting out windows. I just hope that the individuals that out of service will now be brought back as soon as possible. maybe the union will back us a little on this and push to get them back.

Hey AMFAMAN, does that windshield look familiar. Maybe now management will retract some of the statement they have made. OOPS, maybe not. "THE CAN DO THAT"

Heck, they didn't even get that far, or all the way up to speed, or have the same fuel load as the others.

Hey eolesen, awaiting your comment. <_<

Holy Christ!

Don't worry - management will probably blame you guys for not providing sufficient warnings of the dangers.

American Airlines spokesman John Hotard weighed in on the NBC 5 story we blogged about this morning. Here's what he had to say in an email:

Trebor, the Ch. 5 story last night on the Goldhofer was very misleading, if not incorrect, when I saw it. The reporter mislinked two different issues.

First of all, the runway incursion event should not be about the Goldhofer. Following an internal investigation by American Airlines, it was determined that the incursion was due to driver error. It had nothing to do with the Goldhofer other than the AMT was driving a Goldhofer instead of taxiing an aircraft.
Oh Really...

No, I think we should have been able to read German, after all some of the warning signs labeled on the Goldhofer are written in German. Maybe the problem was in the translation when converting KGs to Pounds for towing weight and feet to meters for stopping distance. 😱

No, no , no, don't you see the injuries induced are still operator error. The guys in the Goldhofer should have been strapped in with a 12 point harness, full body armor and a full face crash helmet. What were they thinking when they slammed on the brakes?

I'm sure the Goldhofer rep. and the AA supervisor that were bounced around in the cab will recommend to AA that better restraints are needed. And maybe they will recommend getting the proper equipment to do the job. As for braking, next time you and your family are in the car and you are too close to the a$$ of the vehicle in front of you. Please do not panic and apply excess braking trying to avoid a collision with the vehicle in front of you.
