GOLDHOFERS ARE BEING SHIPPED TO MIA. I GUESS THE BOYS THERE HAVE A PLAN FOR THEM?

Perhaps they'll follow the USS Oriskany to the sea bottom and make a small artificial reef?

Maybe getting sold as a sailboat deadman?

Once again, fine example of management’s failure to listen.

Been following this subject here on this board and observing the operators in action.

Couple of points. Watch how the Captains taxi those A/C. Try slowing down in the ramp areas. A Captain can lock up those 12 main gear brakes if he has to, that little tug won't stop a B777 as quickly. Last guy I saw was doing 20+ knots in a congested MIA alley. That speed is for the "open road" taxiways, not in the ramp. Try asking the pilots about ground handling sometime. Most guys will be happy to talk about it.

Someone else posted something about complying with the ground controllers. Tell them exactly what you can and cannot do. Do not agree to do something unsafe or you can't comply with. If they insist, tell them to F. O. We do it all the time. It's their job to push metal, it's our job (MX included) to say no. No hard feelings, just stand on safety, and they'll get the message.

Airplanes drive like pigs on the ground whether it's from the cockpit, a regular tug, or the G.H. Keep you heads on a swivel and stay safe. 😉

(P.S. Welcome to the, "one F.U. and you're on CNN party  )

AA BOUGHT THE SMALLER TUG! IT ISN'T OUR FAULT! IN GERMAN IT SAYS: DO NOT TOW 767 AND BIGGER OVER 6 MPH??? WE WERE NEVER TRAINED ON THAT! AND AA DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT THAT OR DID THEY???? I DON'T SPEAK OR READ GERMAN!!!! WE WERE TRAINED TO GO "BALLS OUT"! IT CAN TOW A 777 12MPH??? AFTER A FEW MONTHS WE WERE REQUIRED TO HAVE 9K FUEL ON MD80'S AND SHORTLY AFTER WE HAD RECORD NOSE GEAR PROBLEMS!!!! YOU SHOULD SEE IT STRETCH AN 80 NOSE GEAR WHEN YOU TAKE OFF!!!!! LET'S SAVE FUEL!!!!

" LET'S JUST GO FOR IT AND HOPEFULLLY NOTHING WILL GO WRONG "

Our tows from the hgr to the terminal do not require us to cross any runways

So let me see if I understand this. AA at DFW is shipping their Goldhofers to Miami because of the near disaster at DFW. Does this mean that MIA and the FAA and AA have different procedures? Sounds to me like AA is admitting a problem at DFW but it will be OK in Miami. Is the FAA and AA Technicians being played for fools by AA management? Sounds to me all AA has to do is change their procedures on towing aircraft at night. Start the APU and flip on the Beacons. What is so hard about that? I remember a long time ago a pilot voiced concern about AA deactivating LOGO lights. He made a valid point. LOGO lights are very helpful in conditions with poor visibility on the ground. It helps other pilots identify aircraft on the ground as well as the FAA ATC guys up in the tower miles away. But AA decided to deactivate and remove the wiring all together to save weight. Again save money on a potential safety device that can be used to prevent an accident. The video is very interesting. AA refused an interview but released a comment to avoid questions that might lead to more questions about safety. Good luck MIA with the additional stock piles of goldhofers.....

THE GOLDHOFERS FALL UNDER GROUND VEHICLES, NOT FAA??? SO, DFW OPERATIONS REQUIRES YOU TO TAKE THEIR ONLINE COURSE TO BE QUALIFIED. AND THAT IS WHY WE HAVE TWO GUYS OUT RIGHT NOW. DFW OPS TOOK THERE BADGES AND THE CAN'T WORK. THE POLICIES ARE BACKWARDS! WE CROSS ACTIVE RUNWAYS WHICH ARE CONTROLLED BY THE FAA; NOT DFW OPS! IF WE HAVE A RUNWAY INCURSION WHILE TAXIING THE AIRCRAFT DFW OPS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH IT?

THE COMPANY, the twu, AND DFW CAME TO AN AGREEMENT LAST YEAR ON THE ISSUE. AT FIRST THEY WANTED US ESCORTED. THEN THEY SIGNED A LETTER STATING THAT ANY INCURSIONS WOULD RESULT IN AOA BAGDE SEIZURE! the twu SAID " OH, THAT WON'T HAPPEN...THEY WON'T TAKE YOUR BADGE " ! WELL GUESS WHAT....WRONG!!!!!

AGAIN, ANOTHER EXAMPLE OF HOW aa LIES, AND THEY SETUP EVERYTHING TO FAIL! WATCH YOUR BACK MIA!

BRAVO,BRAVO...ANOTHER FINE JOB. GIVE YOURSELF A BONUS FOR WASTING AND MONEY! twu, DON'T WORRY WE WILL "GET'EM NEXT TIME"!

I was on the goldschlager crew for about a year. I drove it alot and never encountered any problems or mishaps. They were also brand new machines. Dade county was very strict down here getting the Goldschlagers outfitted with High intensity strobes and "nav lights" one green and red. They have followed us around on many occasions to make sure strobes were on and working. There was talk about running the APU at night but nothing became of it. We have been fortunate so far but like anything else it is just a matter of time before something happens. The schlager definately make moving airplanes alot easier especially in the summer. The senior guys are now on the crew so I have not been around them in about 3 months.

MOST OF LAST SUMMER THE MAJORITY WERE OUT OF SERVICE BECAUSE OF THE TEXAS HEAT! THEY WERE DESIGNED FOR EUROPE NOT TEXAS. BESIDE THE FACT THAT WE BOUGHT THE SMALLER GOLDHOFERS?? THEY SPEND COUNTLESS HOUR RE-ENGINEERING THE COOLING SYSTEMS. AND, THEY WOULD BLOW HYD. LINES LEFT AND RIGHT. CAN YOU ONLY IMAGINE WHAT COULD HAVE HAPPENED IF YOU LOSE STEERING OR BRAKING??? WHICH, BY THE WAY ARE ALL HYDRALIC!

I WISH I HAD $750,000x4 JUST TO THROW AROUND! OR AT LEAST MY 25K PER YEAR!
