so so much butt hurt in one post.....WorldTraveler said:first, congratulations on your willingness to believe in a union vote.
second, and far more important, is the reality that this is AT BEST a start to the process to call a vote.... there are a lot of verifications that have to take place to determine whether the cards are valid etc.
I told you six years ago and I will say again that DL employees have a history of threatening a union but actually choosing not to vote them in when given a chance - mostly because the company is willing to throw money at the employees.
I'm not sure what the company will do but considering you thought the company's response to the elections 6 years ago was intense, you can bet they will focus all of that attention and more on the process ahead.
There is far from any evidence that a union can deliver anything better than what DL employees have. DL FAs are just willing to roll the dice that perhaps they might be able to squeeze a bit more from the turnip.
when a union is actually seated and the FAs actually have a contract that is superior to their peers, then you can celebrate.
that is ALL a very, very long time from today.
no, it really isn't. I don't know what DL's FA count is but they have been hiring very aggressively for several years. at best it might be 10% over the minimum.... and again, there is no assurance that even 12,000 FAs will vote for a union.
Maybe relative to their position a few years ago but they are considerably weaker today than in the 70s or even late 90s no question about that. Even if IAM organizes the F/As and ACS they will still have fewer eyes paying airline members than they did in their heyday.700UW said:You will see what happens the day of the count, you left almost nine years ago, it's not the same airline anymore. Unions are in the upswing mode in the airline industry.

You really need to lighten up on your axe grinding -- it's getting more tiresome than WT's cheerleading.737823 said:How come Sito hasn't said anything?
Interesting you are suddenly so supportive of employees gaining representation.eolesen said:Agree on the former. Not on the latter, though. There simply aren't that many holdouts for representation once you get past the two or three big workgroups at DL. You really need to lighten up on your axe grinding -- it's getting more tiresome than WT's cheerleading.Reality is that Sito doesn't need to say anything. The cards speak for themselves, and what the people who work for DL that signed them have to say speaks louder than anything an outsider can say.
Still fewer airline jobs than even in the early 2000s, still fewer Union members at both the airline industry and outside the industry, airline employee real compensation is still lower today than before. Yep sounds like great accomplishments to celebrate.700UW said:12,000 signatures is a great accomplishment.
Eric you do realize that Spirit ramp voted in the IAM, VX FAs voted in the TWU, and JetBlue's pilots voted in ALPA, all of this last year.

Josh.
Nor will you. Are you also getting a paid organizing job this time around like the US M&R 2013 vote?700UW said:And what Eric said two years ago, has no bearing on what DL's 12,000 FAs spoke up for themselves.
And the best thing is neither joshie or wt will be casting a vote.
