Delta Airline Pilot & President of ALPA has some advice: During a conference call where he discussed the JetBlue pilots decision to unionize, Moak declared: “If you’re not at the table, you’re probably on the menu. They decided to organize so they were at the table.”
Delta President Ed Bastian also speaks of the carrier’s positive relationship with its Union pilots.
Asked whether Wall Street should be concerned with the next round of negotiations over a contract that becomes amendable in 2016, Bastian responded, “You shouldn’t be concerned about it, simply because of our track record. If you look back over the past eight years, we’ve always been able to partner with our pilots and figure out what we need to do to keep Delta at the top of the industry,” Bastian said. “Our track record is the best in the industry in that regard.”
Executives seem proud of the fact that they negotiate industry leading contracts with their unionized employees. It's time to ask yourself where you want to be, on the menu or at the table? If you want a seat at the table, you need to get involved. Become an activist and carry union authorization cards.
