As a commuter for 9 years, I use the jumpseat as my way to get to work along with open seats when available. Do I wish the mechanic and his family going to Disneyworld would allow me to cut in front of them so I could get to work, yes, is it fair to do that to them, no. Commuting is a choice you take the bad with the bad. Entitlements are for the weak, put your hand back in your pocket and put your chin up.
Commuting is a CHOICE...are you insane...!!!? I was forced out of base several times due to bought airlines, closed bases etc. Children in schools, husbands job, cost of living!!!! The west people NEVER had to deal with the life changes we have had to. They KNEW when they got hired where they would work. Lets say PHX closes tomorrow and you're transfered to LGA...YOU GONNA QUIT? YOU GONNA BUY A HOUSE IN NEW YORK...or you gonna commute!!! Talk about giving me a reason to slap you upside the head. The company always says 'past practice'. WELL COMMUTING for airline employees has ALWAYS been past practice... To avoid problems go by date of hire PERIOD...There was a time when I got bumped and STILL do, but at least I know it's FAIR. Crips you people are nuts. Oh and at ANY given time there are 30 people OF MY SENIORITY year commuting to PHL. When you make a statement...investigate your info and walk a mile in some east coast blue pumps...you sound like an idiot. With regard to pass riding for work or play...date of hire and plan.
