Anotherl T-storm and East arrival pattern night in Philly. Lotsa long, long delays and cancelations. That are already affecting AM originators from the outstations.
Not to mention nightmarish taxi out times.

Anyone have any numbers?

I'm listening to Local West right now (position that runs rwy 27L). I watched it get worse and worse all night. It's amazing to now hear whats going on. The three A330s from the 1800 bank got off the ground at 2200-2230 - 3.5 hours from push to wheels up. I counted 46 out there at 7pm. About an hour and half later there was 65.

Now 730, 702, 776, 734 all loss their releases because New York Center stopped DITCH departures. They got reroutes to go out of over Woodstown. Just as they were getting ready to taxi up they are advised that Washington Center just shut that off. Needless to say, there are some very angry INTL flightcrews.

Wow. It's unfortunate how little info staff in the outstations have about what is actually happening in this kind of situation beyond what is listed in LAND. "PHL DLYS DUE ATC/T-STORMS".

In one station, a customer fired up her laptop to monitor ATC and weather websites. She had quite an audience, both employees and fellow passengers.

It should be noted that US was not alone in having problems in the NE, EWR and IAD were having problems as well.

At least it was weather last night. I flew B6 a few evenings ago out of JFK/TPA...3/4 of their flights were delayed for hrs. due to volume ---on a clear sky day! their terminal (the grande old TWA B) was packed with all new ' brand new-white sneakerd' , 'Yankee shirt wearing' pax hootin and hollarin with hardly anywhere so sit. It was pretty nasty. Was on the ground in TPA 0325, a mere 4.5 hrs. late. At least they don'y have international flts. to work with and cable tv!

It was a royal mess everywhere. They were calling for T-storms as early as 3:00 here in WAS. Those lines stayed to the west and east - whacking RIC, ORF, BWI and probably PHL.

DC areag got ours at around 7:30 with a Tornado warning issued for Chantilly at around 7:40. Chantilly is due south of IAD. Rain hit my house at about 8:05 with 60 MPH winds.

To make matters worse as one line moved west to east, a large south to north line was moving at about 30 mph and the two lines collided directly over DCA. Cloud to ground, high winds, nickle sized hail.

I don't think there were any outbounds out of DCA or IAD for at least an hour or so.

I could tell the inbounds were all over the place as my house is in the approach line for DCA before planes from the west turn south for the Mt. Vernon Visual. Instead of the normal west to east, they were making S turns, curves, and everything in between. I don't think they were doing Mt Vernon visuals as the wind was pretty strong out of the SW, although that may have shifted,

It was wicked last night. I live West of Dulles. It's a beautiful day today though! Nice and cool.

Oh no! Another DC area resident.

The think that freaked me (or maybe it shouldn't) was the tornador warning extended from Manassas, through Chantilly, Fair Oaks, and then Vienna. I thought it was to much of a stretch for the warning to be issued along a track of about 15 to 20 miles in length. But, when I looked outside the clouds were in layers and the wind was moving like mad. Watched the copper in my oak trees whipsaw back and forth and was waiting for something to snap.

heard on nbc10 philly that Flight 598 PHL to LAS stayed on the taxiway area for 6 hrs before it got airborne late last nite and that passengers were mad and angry

I just unplugged my laptop.

I have a safe room in the basement fully equipped. We also have a generator. Bring it
I'll have to call before I get there. But if you're west of Dulles, that means you're probably in Loudoun county. Do they allow people from Fairfax into Loudoun?

Since I live in Cash-Burn, or some call it ###-Burn....of course you are welcome. Just bring lots of money and have your secretary call my secretary HeHe.gif. The saferoom has everything, and I mean everything. The food and supplies are rotated out every six months to keep it updated. My hubby who is a builder, planned this room during construction. A safe was built into the concrete foundation to protect papers and stuff. It's cool  Call me...1-for-axx-burn

Ahhhh....Ashburn. Copy.

OK, That will be tough then as most every house in Cashburn is in HOA land and if I park my car on street for more than 5 minutes, the neighbors might torch your home. Wouldn't want that to happen.

I'll bring my food and supplies. I have 3 cases of MREs and about 3 gallons of water. I've also got two pairs of USAirways headphones to listen to the radio with and some old flight timetables to read until after turnaydo passes by... Maybe I'll bring the wife...
