I guess this just solidifies my general dislike of unions, as they cannot reward individual achievements or accomplishments without rewarding the collective as a whole, deserving or otherwise.

So Remains Jester.

When there was no union for Fleet reward for individual achievement did not exist.

The only rewards were for sucking up.

Very true... softball got you promoted... pit passes etc.

The fact of the matter is real simple... If there were no Union... we would not be here to even entertain our thoughts on this matter!

While I have to say that many of your post are very interestiing to say the least, you still amaze me when you talk about the t/a and say how the IAM folks never told the membership about the language or the attendance policy or the weak verbage in the present contract. You are totally correct my friend. But what you need to remember is that those people are no longer in charge, they were replaced. And I can tell you for sure that many of the people on here from clt that are on this board now, did go around and tell fleet about the bad parts of this t/a. Thats why clt voted it down. The Union leadership that was in place (that only told the good about the t/a to try and sale it) has been replaced. I feel confident that we have people in place now, that will tell us the good and bad of any agreement in the future, which is what always should be done. But your accusations on how the current leadership of the IAM never said anything about the t/a falls short, because they werent in place.

You certainly have a reasonable approach and make some interesting points, but I think there are some revisionisms being perpetrate on your behalf. For example:

Cite me anyone on this board who questioned the LANGUAGE of the T.A. at the time.

Prove to me that the Executive Committee is materially different from two years ago.

Provide evidence of the legal staff being replaced who approved the T.A. language.

Assure me that "the new IAM" is all that better equipped professionally than the old regime.

I believe you to be a sincere person who desires something better, but respectfully, an absence of evidence based upon my aforementioned points leads me to think your positive evaluations to be more akin to platitudes. It is good to hope for better, but let's keep it real.

Unfortunately, as with your name sake, I think the IAM will be your "Lucy"...

You have been challenged by a highly intelligent... exceedingly educated... individual that that dissects... analyzes... and consequently provides written thesis regarding all matters that are Unionized Airline Blue Collar.

I was speaking metaphorically of group of Corporate Individuals whom would have no qualms reducing your ability to afford the game....ultimately, relegating you to playing your game with plastic components in the cul-de-sac.

how come arbatration cases are heard 4 time a yr? Ive heard its similar to going to court
 
System Board is only like four times a year, there is no set schedule for arbitrations nor how many take place in a year.
 
thank you 700uw. my case is heading to arbitration and I was told I could expect it to be at most 2 yrs before it it would be heard however as I was told the majority is settled out before.

In my post, I never said people spoke out on here about the language of the last t/a. ( although Im pretty sure I do remember some doing just that) I said that several people that are on here, that work in clt did speak to the members in clt, and educated them on all parts of the last t/a. And I also stated that clt was a no vote due to the knowledge that was given them. As far as getting on here and speaking out. I knew the day I saw the raise the west employees would be getting, that it was useless to try and say anything. They were getting to big of a raise to listen to anything else. ( MONEY TALKS ).
As far as the executive committe being different than two years ago. I was trying to state, that while this t/a did come out while the nd team was being elected, that they had nothing to do with negotiating it. It was the old boys that did that. The nd team was left with it. The executive team has changed very much from the RC days. Surely you know that.
IAM Legal team, I dont think the legal team has changed from what it was before. You are right about that. However knowing a lot about what happend in the last negotiations, Im not even sure the legal team was even used. Im sure it will be this next time. Jester I know you are big on education. But being educated, dosent make you experienced. I would rather have hard core 30yr guys that have worked and sweat with the work group, and who knows what the work group wants, negotiating for me, than some college boy in a three piece suit. But thats just me. Anyway, I hope we all can finally get a contract that has job protection and benefits that we all truly deserve.

Yes I have to agree with you on that. And I will gladly leave the responding to Mr. Jester to you, when it comes to going back and forth on certain issues. I just like the members that read this to have correct information. (good or bad). Blaming the current leadership for any part of our contract is just bull. But full speed ahead my friend with you and Mr. Jester. I enjoy the read.
