IAM Fleet Service topic

Anyones Union Dues going up? 55.00. Doesnt that seem high. I mean we make 20.00, so thats almost 3 times the hourly rate. Any comments. I know it starts with the International per capita tax. Then the District per capita tax. After that the locals dont have much choice if they want to be able to survive.
 
i should like to note that there's an annoucment here in PHX looking for agents to go to MSY until january 8th ... i've heard chatter that the reason their looking for rampers to go to MSY is to train our brothers and sisters replacments who are being outsourced .. if this is the case the company should have listed something to that extent in the posting .... When i first read it i thought SWEET , free hotel in MSY .... but if it's to train replacment workers , then i think that's a lousy deal , and i myself wouldn't go .... i'm afraid that there are others who might go not knowing why their required down there ...once they come back to PHX , they might not be so popular .... if the rumors are true , it would be a grave diservice not to be upfront with anyone siging up for MSY ...

Wow thats crazy. I havent seen any announcement. Funny how the company wants help to train contracted help but when it comes to our own guys, say (ATL) they use the contract guys to train our own people. And shaft them all the time they are there. This company really has their priorities out of place. Contract employees are more valuble than USAirways emplyees.

This is complete BS and I APPLAUD the MSY brothers/sisters for NOT stepping up to "train away there jobs"
 
Training is not our responsibility. There is some training scope permitted by leads, but not on this scale. If this is true it's a VERY blatant violation.

There are 4 or 5 cities including CLT being asked to send people to work not train. They should be considered SCABS and I hope they are not welcome in MSY.

but on a more serious note , the company has made some staffing errors , and now they want us to step in and save the day after they outsourced our jobs ... and if we did step in to help , what would we get when it comes time to negoatie ? NOTHING , it would be the same ole tired "no money!" line ....

you know what i'd like to see in the new contract , another week of vaction ... we already have DAT days , the company should allow workers who have at least two years of sick days banked to convert 5 of them into extra DAT days and allow the employee to use them as they see fit ...

So the Company is replacing one set of US FSAs with another group of US FSAs in MSY? Of course, it is a temporary assignment, but it causes me to ask, "What happened to the MSY US agents?" Am I correct to understand they were contracted out to 3rd party vendors, so why are they not available until the transition? I completely understand why no one wants to train their replacement, but did the US agents quit, accept the transfer elsewhere already, call in sick, or was the contract company unable to be available by the date required?

Regardless, I agree with Saywhat, it is scab labor, especially to your own union, as the Company is asking people who already have work in their station. And don't be surprised if the replacements will be informally "trained" by the temporary workers during the transition.

Let the Company suffer... it was their choice to go with a contractor.

Thats a good question. Did the company circumvent the union and ask the agents in certain cities? Why would any agent want to go? Maybe they should ask the MSY agents to come back, so they can say no. I agree the company should eat crow.
 
For clarification: The Occupy 141 District Officer Election ticket will have 8 US AIRWAYS AGC's on it, up from the current 5. Increasing the amount of AGC's recognizes equal resources where US AIRWAYS members will not continue to be treated second best to United.

This was a contentious issue over the past couple years for all the US AIRWAYS ND members. When Rich Delaney got in, he 'guaranteed' that he would increase the District resources towards the establishment of more US AIRWAYS AGC"s that would reflect equal distribution. Unfortunately, it never happened as Rich offered up one excuse after another why the US AIRWAYS members couldn't increase their level of AGC's.

At any rate, these additional resources will help equalize the membership so that our US AIRWAYS membership will finally have comparable resources to the United ramp. In application, it means that CLT, PHX, PHL will finally have their own exclusive AGC that is not responsible for flying all over God's wonderful creation visiting other stations. That will leave 5 AGC's to serve the outstations. There are many exciting things about the Occupy 141 ticket and for the first time, US AIRWAYS members have the opportunity to support a ticket that guarantees equality and not second best.

The Occupy 141 ticket also has other items of interest for US AIRWAYS members that will enhance items along various lines. Once the Occupy 141 ticket wins, you will come close to doubling the district resources within your membership. Bottom line.

about the BS in MSY and are they doing the same in the other stations they are closing. Aren't we
in negotiations right now can't they tell the company to stick it where the sun don't shine

If you are in this district, then I'd appreciate it if you called me brother nelson or Tim, or even Nelson. That said, I have no idea what the AGC's think about it. On the face, it seems like a violation of the contract unless the leadership permitted it. Dunno but there is no doubt that management informed the leadership.

I think that any "posting" in the FSE breakrooms requesting "help" for MSY should be destroyed! It is not our responsibility to bail out the company who chose to outsource our work in the first place. What an insulting joke! Anyone who is even considering going is gonna go into a hotbed. Please.. enjoy your holidays and New Year at home where you belong! Don't go help the mess the company created! I am losing my job Jan 8 to a "vendor" and so far they don't have their poop together and nobody is gonna help them get their poop together, either! The company wants cheap labor, they get it! Not one FSE in the ranks of US should be even thinking about going to "help" out. "F" that~
