Stop being so Silly, Billy.
Your false accusations need not continue. Just because I along with LOTS of others have issues with what the union has, or hasn't done in many cases, doesn't mean that we are haters. I love the USA, but many things that the government does make me sick. The membership can only base its judgement on how the IAM has performed in the past, not what they MIGHT do in the future.
I have been on these boards for some time voicing my concerns with union issues, but you have only started your asult on me since I sided with Tim on some issues. Based on what you have posted, you have a personal beef with him.
As I have stated, I don't know Tim, and have never met him either. I'm not on his ticket, nor his staff. Please don't direct your hatred of him towards those that may agree with some of what he, or anyone else might have to say that isn't to your liking.
If you can be blind to the way the membership has been treated, good for you. I challenge you to make a list of the positive vs the negatives that we have dealt with, then add up how much you have spent on dues since 1995. Let us know how you feel afterwards. Take the time to read what others have to say here, and you will soon discover that you are part of a minority

I have to say i fail to see the connection on wings disatisfaction with the IAM pension reduction and weather he supports Tim Nelson or not.
I know a LOT of co workers unhappy about that reduction, most of them old dinosaurs who have been here for years. I'd be willing to bet you a large sum of money that the majority of them will tell you that things will remain bad no matter who wins this election.
That's what I observe sitting here

Clt, thanks for the support.
As you posed, my posting was in regard to the pension, not any candidates in particular. I know that 700 is always boasting about the IAM pension, but it is flawed to a degree. The senior people stand to benefit very little by it. If it had always been around, or even since we had the IAM, it woukd be a different story. Assuming that it remains in place, the junior people will do well by it.

If I read the letter from the pension fund correctly, the pension payout changes not the contribution made to them by the company. Currently we are supposed to get 82 dollars per month times years of service, the new rate effective jan 1st 2014 is 47 dollars per month times years of service. we will receive the 82 dollar amount up to 1-1-14 and then move forward with the new rate.

The union should start working on a plan in case of a merger with AA, cause I don't think they can win a run off withe the TWU............ I bet we would see the AGC'S out in force then, just the threat of them loosing thier big money jobs would be a motivator. All hail to the Cearars we've created!

How much value has most people's 401ks lost when the market tanked?

700... I told you I could predict the future... arm chair financial advisers come out of the woodwork to refute when it is something positive by the IAM!

What's really interesting is there is no mention of the percentage of workers in this country that have failed to invest enough into 401ks because they are unwilling to bear the burden of "voluntary" participation... nor, will they mention how many Americans raided their 401ks during the recession, thus rendering them valueless!

All of these items regarding 401ks are front page news in many investment publications, as well mainstream media. But, then again, everything has to fit a political agenda... even if that means driving a square peg into round hole! I certainly don't want people like this running anything I'm affiliated with.

Hell... I wouldn't let um run a Kool Aid stand... wait.. I take that back... They are running a Kool Aid stand!!

You had better hope the TWU doesn't get in, look at TWA and Airtran if you want to see our future. Let me give you a hint, we would be getting a percentage of our seniority if the TWU survives in a merger.

DP will sign an amendment to the Alleg/Mohawk to not become disadvantaged. He would not risk the disarray !!!

My breakroom sounds the same as this thread has been going. Some think 401's are better than the Pension and others think the opposite. Yes we all have seen the 401's tank with the economy and now the pension is in a similar predicament. Roabilly said it best that he speaks with a finacial advisor. So do I, because I'm as unsure as the next agent on which is right or where do I put my money. Lets at least be sure that the pension is company vested and we dont vest in to it. 401's are voluntary and are a pre taxed savings that we can move around. As for the contract keeping the pension is a good thing. How much more are any of us willing to put in instead of pay and benefits? Is any amount of a 401 match better? There is a dollar amount on everyone of us in negotiations. Where are we willing to go? I would like to see a mix. No reason to put all your eggs in one basket. In the end I recommend to see an advisor, they really know whats best.

Non-elective means you cannot control where the company match money goes. A 401k lets you handle all the money and its investments.
Maybe you wont look so foolish if you actually took the time to research and educate yourself.

Again CWA Passenger Service group does not have a company match. The compay has to contribute to the employee’s bi-weekly pay (base pay, shift premium and overtime, to a 401(k) account for each employee covered by the Agreement. You can direct the moneys to a wide selection of funds. Employee contribution is not necessary the company has to contribute

They did say that it was a negotiable item, so kiss something else good bye in order to keep what you had...
Typical...

It is with the PBGC, and you should be getting literature from them on occasion. I don't know when you were hired, but for those that had less than $5k, I believe, had the balance sent to them a few years ago. I didn't fall into that category, so I don't know all the details.

Is it placed into the same account as the money that was turned over to the pbgc when the iam pension took over? Or is it considered a seperate entity, and we will be getting two checks from pbgc when the time comes?
