IBEW UPDATE 11Nov-

Status
Not open for further replies.
First off, please note that I dd not jump into the ''keep the IAM'' thread and take
it off topic, as has happened often in this topic thread.

Now, the IBEW is waiting for all the cards that have been signed throughout the system
to make thier way to them, here in Phl. Once that has happened and the IBEW can see
the amount of interest we may have in them, they will make a decision to proceed with
backing the card signings again and allow the AFL-CIO to fine them or waiting to see if
the card signing will continue without thier financial backing and when it hits the number
they are looking for, to then financially support a campain. The IBEW may say that the
interest generated is not enough and they may step aside.

I have said all along that the IBEW will not walk away from us, it will be us walking away
from them.
They would love the opprtunity to prove thier worth to us but they need to see
the cards to give them piece of mind knowing that if they decide to pursue this that they will
be willing to take on the fines that may soon follow. The interest in the IBEW continues to feed
back to the IBEW that it remains strong.
Any stations who would like to participate but have not
as of yet please send a message to myself , Tim Nelson, or Labor Dawg and we would be happy
to take your information and have cards Fed-Ex'd directly to your residence. All we need to do is
show the IBEW that the interest in them is sufficent for them to continue.
That number would be
somewhere around the 50% of the workforce which we may already have but all the cards have
not arrived as of yet.

There will be more information later this week. To everyone assisting in the card signing the IBEW
would like to Thank You for your continuing support. To those who post on this thread only to disrupt
the threads' intent (which is to keep people informed), you are doing nothing but an injustice to
the workgroup by not allowing the people who choose to read this topic to get up to date on the
progress of the IBEW, only to find posts' of a combative nature. If you'd like to speak in that type
of forum start a new topic indicating the subject, ie. ''IAM vs. IBEW which would you choose.''. That
would give you the chance to bicker back and forth.

I'm trying to keep this on topic and not a debate.........the title of this thread is:
Replying to IBEW UPDATE 11Nov-

Guys the IBEW is still in it. They just need to know we want it as bad as they do. That means if you want it sign a card. See a buddy get a buddy to sign a card. This is not going to happen if we expect someone else to get the job done. We all know the old saying "If you want it done right you have to do it yourself"! that means don't sit on the fence post stand up and make a decision! Signing a card allows you more options than you have ever had with the IAM! CLT is doing great with the cards, PHX gave in one package over 300 cards. This is awesome. What we need now is some healthy competition! I bet the next station to give 200 cards or more will be LAS! It would be nice to see PIT [the city that the company and the IAM have turned their backs on] come up big! Florida has come up big and I hear that the west coast wants some change also. Let’s shake the aviation industry to its very knees with change. The pilots have already shown how serious they are. I think we can show them a thing about unity! Remember just because you don’t see the IBEW right now doesn’t mean they aren’t here. They want this change as bad as you do. You heard it from the Dawg pound. The bone is in your yard now USAirways Fleet Service!

Dog My question is why are you so negative to those who want change? If you aren't Mgt. or IAM then why are you stepping on people who want a better life? Two more question and this will be the a straight forward Question. What is your stance? Do you just want to stir up these guys or are you just EDITED BY MODERATOR

MOD NOTE-Comment could be considered a personal attack. Do NOT make this personal.

I would also like to add, that to the best of my knowledge nobody from the IBEW has made an attempt to get cards to those on furlough.
If someone out there would see that a few cards made their way to all of the stations that were outsourced, I'm sure they would get to the people who would gladly sign them. All of these stations still have Mainline C/S people, and most have a few leftover furloughed Mainline people working for the contract vendor in those stations.

HOW TO GET CARDS SIGNED

Here are a few ideas on how to get cards signed at your station:

If you have any ideas please add them.

1. First of all you need to be committed to this change.

2. You should also educate yourself as much as you can. Go back
to Aug and read from there. All the info is there.

3. Get the cards from Tim or Perv. There are also links on this site
to print out your own . It's helpful to be registered on this forum so you
can communicate with the posters.

4. Find the people in your station who are willing to help. Get them to
sign first.

5. Find out what people think. Ask them. Get to know where they
stand. What are their fears, beliefs etc. If they don't want to sign
respect that.

6. In my station zero people signed a card without being approached.
One on one contact gave the best results.

7. If your not to hot with people maybe you can find others who are
and and give them the cards.

8. Some people need time to think about it . Very few people will sign
a card when first approached.

9. Just when you think this is hopeless things will happen. Be patient
and willing to accept whatever happens.

10. Pick up a shift you don't normally do and get to know those people.

11. It's my understanding that only name, employee #, station and handwritten
date and signature is all that is mandatory.

12. Tim and Perv can tell you where to send the signed cards.

All Stations are different. We have 72 in SAN and 59 have signed with
about 3 more committed. Our station if fairly tight everyone knows
everyone else..compleatly different than say PHX which looks like
a ramp jungle. So different things will work with different situations.

Please your comments or ideas..Thanks and good luck...BF

anyone have the latest poll nmbrs by the stations?
The IBEW 'paused' the campaign. However, incredibly a steady flow of cards have come in, about another 100 in total for the week even with the pause. CLT signed the most, SAN kicked butt and now has 55 out of 72. BUR just opened up.

Click here for current unofficial count

Furloughees and other stations that want to join the effort, email here

I have no opinion on what the IBEW will do from here but one thing is sure, fleet service kicked butt over the last 5 weeks in signing up 45% of total membership with no union presence other than some resources for flying and meeting rooms. At any rate, the network is solid and fleet service [both west and east] is more organized and solid than ever before.

regards,

If you want change do it in a productive manner.

Risking decertification of your union is not productive.

Promoting membership in a union that does not recognize you is not productive.

Union bashing is not productive.
