I got my card from the IBT. I want to know how the IBT plans on merging the seniority lists for the mechanics. I dont't want any debates on the merits of the IAM or IBT. I already know the IAM will go by the mechanic start date. Can someone provide a link or any proof on how the IBT plans on doing this?
I was laid off in the spring, found a very good life after USAIR, and have no plans of every returning. My concern is for the friends that are still there. And please no pissing and moaning about it since I will never return. I put my time in and can vote anyway I see fit. B)

I am no fan of the IAM, but after being burnt so many times I think this throws a variable into the Teamster's promise.
 
Hopefully others will stop for a second and think it out. Change can be for the better. Everyone has to make their own decision but please, make an INFORMED decision and not one based on fear of change or some loyalty to an entity besides YOU.

Seniority Integration questions. A number of you asked what the IBT meant by seniority integration in accordance with Allegheny-Mohawk sections 3 and 13 and that this be accomplished
in a fair and equitable manner. It is the IBT’s view that integration should be accomplished in
accordance with the original Allegheny-Mohawk concept. That concept provides for mechanic
(AMT) date of hire integration with the proviso that no member will be furloughed because of
the merger. That is what we plan to work for. Comments to the contrary are simply meant to be
misleading.

Station visits. IBT representatives will continue to visit your stations in order to hear your concerns and try to answer your questions. It is our intent that an amalgamated Agreement be an
improvement over what you work under today. Your current bankruptcy driven Agreement is
not relevant to the new company and we will bargain to improve the terms of that Agreement.
Although labor peace is important to the company, an unacceptably long contract is not in the
best interests of the AMT’s. Going forward should be a cooperative endeavor and not a one-way
street.

The importance of signing cards. With emergence from bankruptcy, the incumbent union no
doubt will seek a single carrier ruling in order to try to close off continued campaigning. In
order to be represented by the IBT, you should promptly complete and return an IBT representation (organizing) card. A sufficient return of cards will ensure an election, which permits you to choose a new representative. We believe that is in your best interests.

Parker has allready stated many times that no furlowed employees can bump out an active employee. he said he would not allow it! there are plenty of openings in the us east side and a few on the west side as of now so its not like any who wants to come back can't or can soon.
 
all this BS aside.......when is the grand day all will know whether its IBT or IAM and a runoff??
 
OK next question, what are the recall rights for someone on layoff? How long are they protected under the IBT contract?

Even if there is an election and the ibt wins,the IAM CBA will be the document you will be working under and it is not amendable until 2009.
